IAAF president debases haze threat to Xiamen Marathon

Xiamen (China), Jan 1 (IANS): International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) president Lamine Diack said here Wednesday that the haze should not curb the annual Xiamen International Marathon Thursday.

Diack believes that although hazy weather covers large areas of middle-east China, where many cities held marathons in 2013, the marathon's managers will not slow down the pace to promote the sport, reports Xinhua.

He noted that the government will make more efforts to control the pollution, focus on air surveillance and forecast the weather for local people.
