Beltangady: Dharmasthala unnatural deaths - Protest intensifies

Daijiworld Media Network – Beltangady (EP)

Beltangady, Dec 9: “The government which had promised to transfer the Sowjanya rape and murder case to the CBI has cheated the people. The protests will continue until the investigations are conducted and justice is done in the case,” said Praja Prabhutva Vedike president Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi.

He was speaking at a mammoth protest meeting held in connection to Sowjanya's murder and other cases of unnatural deaths that have occurred in Dharmasthala over the past several years. The meeting urged for transfer of the Sowjanya case and other similar cases of missing girls and unnatural deaths to the CBI, monitored by the Supreme Court.

Demanding to know whether the government had joined hands with the suspects in the case, he said that the police are trying to suppress the protesters. He urged the government and the police to act before people revolt and take suitable action against the killers.

"There are attempts to spread confusion in Beltangady taluk. Police should take suitable action against those spreading rumours. The taluk welfare committee should clarify to the people whether they are for justice or against justice," he said.

Esha Vittaldas Swamiji of Kemar Sandeepani Ashram said, "Our culture desists rape. Our culture encourages raising our voice against injustice. The government should clarify on whose pressure did it back off after promising CBI enquiry into the incident," he said.

Author Atradi Amritha Shetty said that the Tulu people have challenged injustice and the rulers will fail in front of the sea of people.

Kusumavati, mother of Sowjanya and Dr B R Harale, husband of Vedavalli teacher expressed their anguish in front of the protesters.
Chandappa Gowda, father of Sowjanya was present on the dais.

Jayaram Gowda and Ravi Kumar Baramelu also spoke. Anil Kumar welcomed the gathering. Satish Mannadka thanked.

Though people from different taluks had gathered at the protest meeting, Ujire residents were more in number.

    Surendra..
What you are going to do with the murderers..??
    Is is souwjanya come back..??
Why spoiling daily earning of a common man and career of school childrens as well as of college students while doing such protest..
While you are commenting as a saint..how many members of your family are in the protest..??
As long as person's mindset is not changed ' crime' occurs often..there is no solution.
I don't mind people from affulent family joined in to protest.. why always by below middle class people..??
Who ourselves to give justice to whom..?? Why giving more trouble to parents of saujwanya..??
What is going to achive at last..??
Better apply objective protest to implement for good cause to force government to bring one more law to curb the same.

Bollu, These daily wage laborers who came from different parts of DK, Udupi districts for the protest to seek justice of the heinous crime of rape, murder happened to Sowjanya. They feel Sowjanya as their own daughter, as their own sister and what happened to Sowjanya, it may happen to any of their family members too. That is why even Esha Vittaldas Swamiji of Kemar Sandeepani Ashram taking an active role, in seeking justice.

Seems the government acts like blind deaf & dumb in this issue. No progress in this case shows that there is no will power to solve the case.

Had the victim belongs to rich or political background,it would have been solved by now.

A great salute to KEMAR SWAMIJI & THIMARODI MAHESH SHETTY for their bold stand & fight against injustice despite life threat. Let people accuse you and talk against you, but, please do not stop till justice is done to our little girl. Heart warming to see the sea of people demanding justice. It is truly hurting to see the delay by Congress to hand over the case to CBI despite people demand. Siddaramaiahji, better learn a lesson from recent elections of Rajasthan & MP. Dear H.M. Mr. George, wake up from your sleep and act fast else Congress will be dead in Karnataka as well. Enough is enough. Do not defend the rapists and killers due to their money and power. We people of Karnataka always strive for justice irrespective of religion and caste. Jai Karnataka.

Dear Bollu, did this logic applies to the gathering of Namo rallies, various Sena & Dal protests for useless reasons ? Here, the gathering is for a genuine reason and gathered people are pro justice and anti rape and murder. We should be proud of this gathering demanding justice for a little girl and for her poor parents. Pleased to see the thirst of OUR Tulu people for justice. Jai Karnataka. Jai Tulu Naadu.

Absolutely right. 4-0 defeat should be a good lesson to all.
Perform or wither, this is the clear cut message. Do not understand why HM is not handing over this case to CBI. Are they still delaying till 2014 election. If that is the case, 2014 election the ruling party in Karnataka may loose its ground here in DK. Better act immediately.

    Don't ask loaded stupid questions.
There is inaction even now in this and similar other murders in and around Dharmasthala for the same reason why there was no action during the rule of the party that was in power earlier in Karnataka.
