This is not the first time siezed Safrron. I think 3rd time & all passenger from Dubai & residing at Kasaragod. I doubt there is a big racket of Saffron smugglers with the connection of Custom Officers on duty. But unfortunately when the shift changes or higher officers unexpected presence make this smuggling tough. Other wise just imagine, how any one can bring so bulk of saffrons every time. ??

I don't understand why Indian authorities catching saffron smuggling? They can very well impose some duty and let it pass. Is it excisable item? It looks like our police catching cow transporters and taking photos and publishing in the media. When we have so many followers of saffron ideology in the country why not saffron accepted as a commodity?

I do not know how this stuff comes to India, because its not easy to make that kind of money just by working.Anyway whole world is corrupt to the core. These custom officers ? well just conduct tax raid in their homes and run a thorough investigation on their family ban accounts and see what assets they have. You will be shocked.I hope someday we all know the true justice to serve us right!

Now a days almost every two days passengers arriving from dubai were caught either for getting gold, saffron etc...Inspite of people knowing that mangalore customs officials are intelligent and only one flight lands at an interval of abt one hour from all over gulf.So these custom officers have enough time to check the baggage of passengers of each flight and they know by looking at someones face.Hats off to the custom officers and thanks daiji for publishing all the beautiful photographs.

What is the point in banning a good thing like saffron? Demand is more than supply.
