Prisoner accused in rape, murder cases escapes from Bangalore jail

Bangalore, Sep 1 (IANS):
A 36-year-old prisoner, involved in several criminal cases including of rape, murder and kidnapping, escaped from the central jail on the city's outskirts early Sunday, a senior police official said.

"We learnt that Jaishankar escaped from the jail by climbing two 15-feet inner walls and the 30-feet outer wall between 2 and 4 a.m.," Karnataka's Inspector General of Prisons (IGP) K.V. Gagandeep told reporters here.

The IGP has suspended three wardens, two jailors and six security guards who were on duty then and ordered an inquiry into the daring jailbreak.

The incident came to light when Jaishankar did not turn up for morning roll-call and was found missing from his cell.

"The accused was lodged in a separate barrack as he was under treatment for an ailment. He used clothes and nylon ropes to climb the walls and also got injured as there were drops of blood outside the outer wall," Gagandeep said.

According to preliminary investigation, Jaishankar even managed to hoodwink a couple of security guards patrolling between the first and third walls by disguising as a policeman and pretending to be part of the prison staff.

"We are investigating how he got the police dress and fled in darkness as there was a power failure and the electric fence on the top of the outer wall was not functioning due to power cut and sudden rain in the area," Gagandeep said.

The undertrial is facing a number of cases in the state and neighbouring Tamil Nadu after he was arrested in May 2011.

"We have set up a special team to trace the accused as he is carrying Rs.10 lakh cash reward and had a history of escaping from Salem and Coimbatore prisons in Tamil Nadu earlier," Gagandeep said.

Simple solution to the complex problem...death sentence to rapists & murderers. If they had hung him upto death when they caught him the first time, all this could have been avoided... Money being spent now in his search could have been used for a better cause.Too bad, Indian Judicial system is weak and public deals with all consequences.

This Prison in charge was most probably was appointed by earlier Govt. (BJP) We have such people in some of the responsible positions. They do not see it as their responsibility but a place to make money. Government cannot transfer these people to any other place until their term finishes.
So our CM\Home Minister were hand tied.
Now they have a reason for taking action against them.
    1. For allowing the prisoner to escape.
    2. For not posting a sentry outside the cells with this kind of prisoners.
    3. for not having sentries between the walls outside the prision.
    4. For not supervising regularly lapse of above and also
    5. For not maintaining CCTVs and the high voltage meshing on top of the prison walls.

First the highest authority in this prison should be pulled up and then the subordinate questioned and find out why\how all this happened.
All the expenses to be checked from the last 5 (FIVE) years and
finally find out on whose order the prisoner was allowed out of the cell (He did not break the lock and go out, lock was opened!!). If subordinates who were on duty are questioned with pressure on them, they will definitely divulge.

this police force had lost its moral and responsibility towards their duty during the previous 5 years. If a prisoner could be arranged to be lodged in a specially prepared cell with all facilities during the earlier Govt. and hardened criminals could roam around freely outside the prison walls, during their imprisonment, these kind of things can happen easily.
now let us watch and see what the present Govt. will do. `

install CCTV's and put all police stations under check by lok ayukta. but don't forget the corporates who are the main looters of india. put RTI for them since most NGO's n media don't support this since they get paid by corporates. but not speaking the truth means curses for anyone. equivalent to spreading lies about any person, group or party. file RTI or case like swami instead of cribbing. else wear bangles and crib from home. looks like opposition parties n their GODs are all dead since none file cases in courts if scams are real. note that police still unable to trace MLA's wife who was killed / murdered. what about aam aadmi?. pray that GOD exposes n punishes all guilty of all parties or groups.

We should form a new law that If any rowdy, criminal and rapist escapes from jail or police then needs to put the jailer or police in the jail till that rowdy, criminal and rapist arrest then these jailer or police will not give chance them to escape because jailer and polices are involved in the escapes episodes and fixed.

I HAD BEEN TO KAUP POLICE STAION TO REGISTER A COMPLAINT AGAINST A PERSON IN THE YEAR 2012. WHEN I ENTERED THE STATION TWO CONSTABLES ASKED ME 'WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM ?'. I TOLD THEM I HAVE COMPLAINT AGAINST A PERSON, WHICH I WANT TO REGISTER IT. SOON ONE OF THE CONSTABLE TOLD 'THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO REGISTER, GO AND REGISTER IT AT POST OFFICE. THEN I CAME BACK. THEY DID NOT ACCEPT MY COMPLAINT. THEN I WENT TO A POLITICIAN AND TOLD ABOUT THE INCIDENT. AFTER THAT THEY ACCEPTED MY COMPLAINT. I AM WELL EDUCATED, STILL I HAD TO FACE SUCH HUMILIATION. THE PROBLEM WITH THE POLICE CONSTABLES THAT THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES. THEY TALK IN RUDE MANNER. MY QUESTION TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT :

    1. IS IT POSSIBLE TO REGISTER A COMPLAINT BY AN ILLITERATE POOR PEOPLE.

    2. THE DEPARTMENT SHOULD EDUCATE THE POLICE CONSTABLES WHO ARE UNAWARE OF THEIR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

    3. IN POLICE STATION POLICE TAKES BRIBE WHICH CAN BE SEEN COMMONLY.

DEPARTMENT SHOULD BUILD A SPECIAL SQUAD LIKE LOKAYUKTHA TO CONTROL THE ABOVE TYPE OF ILLEAGAL ACTIVITIES INSIDE POLICE STATION.

    STOP CURRUPTION...SAVE COMMON PEOPLE.

How can a Criminal climb a 15 feet and 30 feet wall without any help. It is highly unusual for inmates to escape from within the confines of a closed prison. He must have had a net, or a ladder, or a rope or some kind of equipment to climb it. And also help from either the inmates or the jail keepers.

This Criminal may be a relative of Spider-man, Batman, Superman, Iron man, Lizard man or Hulk to climb the walls without any equipment and help.

Investigating how he got the, Clothes, Nylon Rope, police dress and fled in darkness as there was a power failure and the electric fence on the top of the outer wall was not functioning due to power cut and sudden rain in the area,"
I like the Term Power Cut.

Climbing two 15-feet inner walls and the 30-feet outer wall between is defenitely impossible.
He may have been let go by some corrupt guard through the door . The nylon ropes and blood stains could be staged by the corrupt official to mislead that the prisoner had escaped .
Shame on the prison guards who assisted him escape just for a few thousands of rupees...
God save India from these corrupt officials who are no less than a threat to our Country.
If Osama or Dawood would have been captured in India, they would have easily escaped with the help from our corrupt officials.

knowing he is previously escaped from many jails, they should have kept seperate and watch extra,.Here someone had "helped"him with clothes or he must have stolen from some Police knocking him down. Now put the watchers and Police in his cabine. He must have felt like in a Hotel .is it so easy to climb that wall?no Dogs Alarm?was electric purpously put out?then you cant call it as a jail.suppose they get him again he should get a leg chain.

Agree with me or not. Our home minister is a dummy candidate. Knowing his weakness, he was chosen for such a high post. SM Krishna had kept him out of cabinet though he was minister in Bangarappa's Govt.

It is an utmost difficult task arrest a culprit.

Under useless home minister, law and order is a complete failure in the state. He should resign immediately. He should understand how much difficult it is to arrest a person.
