Bantwal: Trivial issue leads to conflict in college, police issue warning

Daijiworld Media Network – Bantwal (SP)

Bantwal, Jul 12: Contributing further to the uneasy environment already prevailing in the government first grade college at Vittal, the police were summoned there again on Thursday July 11 after friction arose between the principal of the college and the students on a frivolous issue.

It is learnt that some first year BCom degree course students of the college, through a letter addressed to the principal, asked him to equally distribute students belonging to a particular religion to both the sections of the degree course.

They said that students from a specific religion were facing problems, as students from a another religion far outnumbered them in section B.

The students requested the principal to re-distribute the students between these two sections, without allotting classes based on religious affiliation, equally. This gave rise to verbal frictions between the principal and a section of the students.

The principal thereafter called the police, who came on the scene and talked to the concerned. They asked the principal and students to reach a compromise in the issue before Friday, failing which all the 20 signatories to the letter were directed to come to the police station.

When we studied in schools and colleges, we never heard of or felt any religious bias. Just classmates and friends and nothing beyond, no matter one belongs to which religion.

But in these days, especially in South Kanara, schools and colleges are divided on religious lines. I think political parties are responsible for the current fate of educational institution.

Jeevan, I think you dont know the art or basic common sense of commenting. For every little reason you seem to blame Congress.Let your comment be on the crux of the issue and let it not hypothetical.Even if your neighbor dies also you will blame congress perhaps. Please advice the students to concentrate on education rather than giving these cheap comments.

What are these students going to college for?-to study and make a future for themselves or to get trained in communal politics. If Principal is not allowed to run his college according to what he thinks is the best way then there is no point in having Principal or any teachers. I wonder if these students parents have any say in this matter and to control their children. These type of activities should be nipped in bud.Any student getting any disruptive activities should be given a warning and their parents should be informed and next step is to kick them out of college and let them go to gutter where they rightly belong.

My serious advise to these students is to concentrate mainly into education.

I strongly agree with Ismail. This trend should be nipped from the bud. Schools and colleges are considered sacred places where we learn wisdom. But a few of the present generation thinks they are heroes falling into such dirty games. Why do they go to school in the first place when they don't even belong to civilized society. Stop being apes and become humans, guys.
