Puttur: Facebook affair leaves youth broke and broken-hearted

Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Jul 12: Ravi is a youth from Nelamangala near Bangalore, and his habit of chatting on facebook has proved to be a lifetime curse for him. He is skilled at doing electrician’s work, and owns a truck, which has been hired to a friend.

Ravi, who chatted on facebook during spare time, came across a girl who said she was from Puttur, working for a private firm at Bommanahalli near Bangalore, about three years back.  Although they never saw each other, the relationship between them was cemented as they chatted over weeks and months. Ravi, it is said, grew a strong affinity towards her, and over time, felt it impossible to live without her. Having been too fond of her, he also remitted money to her account as when she requested. During the period since he got to know this girl through facebook, Ravi claims, he has remitted nearly Rs 14 lac to her account.

Ravi, who tried to commit suicide by the roadside at Nelyady in the taluk a few days ago, was admitted into a hospital in Puttur. Seeing his condition, someone had called 108 ambulance service, which in turn, brought him to the hospital here. When questioned about the reason for ending his life, he said he is unemployed now, and had failed to bag a job. “I had visited Mangalore and stayed in a friend’s room. But there too I did not get a proper job. I boarded a bus to Bangalore. When I got down at Uppinangady, the bus went away. I did not have money to go home, and therefore decided to commit suicide,” he explained.

When asked as to whether he had come here to search for the girl he came to know on facebook, Ravi concurred that is also a reason. “I spent lot of money for her, even neglected to look after my own mother during her old age. I also lost a decent job I had. Even now I am not sure as to where the girl hails from. The girl succeeded in mesmerizing me through her sweet words and make me spend whatever I had. Now, I find my life unbearable. Because of this, I made an effort to end my life. No one should fall in love with someone introduction on facebook,” Ravi said with tears rolling down his eyes.

Ravi is out of danger now. But his painful experience has come as a warning bell to those who are proceeding on this path, to restrain themselves from falling into this trap. While social websites do provide fun and new friends, their advantages end once you go beyond and emotions, empathy, love, etc make you blind and numb your brain.

Ravi, you are the most stupid and foolish man on earth to get friendly to an unknown girl on Facebook and remitting in lakhs to her account. A dumb idea and you deserve it. I could only say you are girl crazy. Even now you can track her down through the bank account. Sometimes I feel your story is not true.

Face book is really a "F.A.K.E B.O.O.K". Guys do not waste your precious time on face book you won't get any thing. Do some charity work, spend time with your loved ones, concentrate on routine work. The friendship that on face book is not real. Many people do not know who is his face book friend. Hence do not believe it, as it is only show off.

Socializing with strangers over internet can prove disastrous - Ravi's case proves it, though it it is tip of an iceberg !! Lot of rogues n criminal minded people search for gullible folks n trap them in chakravyuha which will have only entry but all exit routes will be blocked for the victim. Many times, these rogues on social sites are powerful people with lot of money n high contacts, which will keep these rogues safe from law. Sweet buttering words from strangers will end up in misery for innocent people. Blackmail tactics will be employed by these rogues once they succeed in breaking through your confidence. Cyber world is the most unreliable imaginative world - nothing is real. Beware of your happiness n dont trust too much.

The girl is smart and knows how to squeeze and take out what she wants. It is now time for Ravi to look for legal action against the girl. But again, under what offence girl can be booked is question mark.

THERE ARE MANY SECTIONS IN IPC Under which such person can be booked.
I generalise the term to mean either sex or no sex.
    Start when enticing,
False promises, alluding to part with money by giving false info, impersonating,
    Fraud,cheating , 420 etc...

Till now, I have never fallen in love. I hope this will continue till I get married :-)

Now coming to the matter, many people have fallen in love, got married and living healthier life. Not everyone got fooled. If fooled, not to THIS MUCH EXTENT of 14 Lakhs :-) (Ravi would have thought 14 lakhs is zero infront of love). He spent this much amount to an ONLINE friend, which made him to go OFFLINE in life.

We should call this guy RAVI a big fool because he did not realize that he was being made fool till he lost 14 Lakhs Rupees.
