Kundapur, Jul 9: The police on Tuesday July 9 night seized a vehicle transporting cattle illegally and arrested one person in this regard. The incident was reported at around 8 pm near Jumma mosque at Gangolli here.

The locals noticed a Maruti Eeco reportedly transporting five cows and informed the police. The police swung into action and stopped the vehicle and arrested one person.

The arrested is Khaja Saheb, a resident of Gangolli. Three others who were with him managed to escape.

It is not known where the cattle were being transported from.

The police seized the vehicle as well as the five cows.

Soon after the incident, a tense situation prevailed in the area for sometime, but police beefed up security and ensured that nothing untoward happened.

Gangolli police have registered a case.

All I can say is if people cared for, protected and reared their cattle in their own cowsheds this situation would not have arisen. You cannot allow you cattle to be a public nuisance, block traffic, destroy vegetation in other peoples property and expect that others would care any more about your animals than you do.

Some comments are really hard to follow . Some people seriously need to attend Vocabulary and Grammar classes. The quality of comments is really deteriorating by the day and some people just to prove a point out of desperation end up writing in some other language.

MY suggestion is that people must write sensibly and correctly.

If this is the quality of vocabulary and grammar used today, then i wonder how good will the level of English in India be in a few years from now.

@Yusuf, Neither did i say that it was God's language but when comments are expressed clearly it is to understand.

If different people start writing English in any way they like, then none of those comments will make sense.

If grammar and vocabulary isn't used correctly then the chances of misinterpreting comments increases drastically.

Can anyone explain what is the legal transportation of cattle? It is better for Karnataka Govt. to allow the slaughtering of old and unwanted cattle paving the way for people to breed more cattle to earn money. People need to be educated to change their mindset. It is not the pious feeling but the hatred we have for the other religion causing this epidemic.

First of all domestication of animals by humans involves some greed n selfishness from our side.

Secondly, National highways or any concrete jungles that are built by our sommunities/organisations at the cost of living space taken away from non-human life forms.

Thirdly, if cows wander freely in open space, it does not mean they should be forcefully taken away by deceit mode.

Lastly remember animal corridors such as Eliphant corridors .... when Man plays with nature, he has to face consequences too.

    Dear Prashanth Poojary,

I am sure most people who had cows at their home would appreciate emotional n cultural sentiments attached with cow/calves. To Imagine village life without cows is impossible in India. Cows bring value n joy to us. We use to tie infant baby inside home on a carpet n jute bag to give baby warmth n protection. I enjoyed the dance of calf when nice breeze blew across. Modern day kids play with toys, video games etc, play at amusement parks etc. But for village kids it is play with nature n pets. We played pranks with naati hen/cock, cows etc... and to play with infant toddlers is altogether different experience. We use to play in mud n running pure water streams. Every play will teach us something for sure. For example, just watchin a newborn baby (calf) to stand up n walk is amazing whereas we humans while passing through our childhood had taken different time-window to stand up n walk. On careful observation, nature appears so beautiful. It brings happiness in first encounters... and on careful observations will make us wonder the beauty of creation.

My view is cow trafficking is an apolitical issue which had to be stopped at any cost. People in this racket involve all communities who are behind instant money. I have seen many cases where christians are trafficking cattle ( a trick ?) and in some instances hindus also are involved. Our political parties must listen to minute details of our own existence n happiness. We dont want to see cows in zoos after few years.

Final point is - Modern day life-style has a major problem in getting DISconnected from nature and we see the consequences of it, like depression, stress, health problems etc. In many cases, people are advised to go for pet therapy. Village life is perfect life but with one drawback .... not much of economic value. These days when agriculture is becoming more n more important, village life in my view is perfect life which will take care of all our needs.

Stealing , illegal transportation of cattle and also illegal slaughter should be dealt strictly by the Govt. Culprits must be punished without any political interference. This has become an everyday affair in DK.

Instead of condemning these illegal activities many of our readers are supporting it by politicising the matter.

Cow trafficking is really a curse. We had 7 cows and 3 calves. We use to let the cows out for grazing and evening they use to come back. This is traditional practice at most houses. But for past 8 to 10 years, stealing of cows from grazing area became norm of the day. Cows started missing from cowsheds too. We lost 4 cows. Many of the houses hav been affected badly by this menace. They lost precious cows. A defenseless cow is being brutally taken away by thieves. Many families make their living by selling milk, and selling organic manure. A cow in general can have life time of 20 years. And it can give birth to around 16 calfs. By stealing of cows, these thieves are bring life of cow to abrupt end thereby inflicting severe damage on families. This also creates damage on cultural n societal aspect too. Many people have left looking after cows bcz of this menace. If there are no cows for future, wht will happen to society ? No milk ?

At home, kids n elders have emotional connect with pets, and cow is no exception. If cow doesnt come back in the evening, we all use to panic and go in search of missing cow. Many times our cows have delivered baby in grazing area. I recall the happiness that we use to feel when we sight cow with infant baby at around 12 midnight.

Small Small happiness of people is being snatched away by money minded thieves. Plz make sure there wont be any cow trafficking in future. We truly love cows. For transient money, we loose much more. Can brahmins n other influential people in congress look at this issue seriously and prevent BJP from using cow their political gimmicks ???
