BMC confirms Shahrukh's surrogate baby

Mumbai, Jul 3 (PTI): The veil of secrecy over actor Shah Rukh Khan's third baby, born with the help of a surrogate mother, has been lifted with civic authority today confirming the development.

"Yes, we have received the birth report of Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan's baby boy," BMC additional municipal commissioner Manisha Mhaiskar told PTI.

As per details in the birth report, the baby boy was born on May 27 to parents listed as Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Shah Rukh Khan at the Masrani Hospital for Women in suburban Andheri.

The child was born at 34 weeks of pregnancy and weighed 1.5 kg at birth, BMC sources said quoting report received from Masrani Nursing Home.

It is mandatory for nursing homes and hospitals to register every birth in the city. The civic body issues birth certificates to parents on the basis of that report.

Speculation was that Gauri's sister-in-law Namita Chibber may have been the surrogate mother, but there has been no confirmation so far.

Earlier, following a complaint based on media reports that a pre-natal sex determination test had been conducted, the BMC had sent a team to Khan's residence last month to ascertain the facts. The team, however, was turned away.

Gender testing is banned in the country under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Technique (PCPNDT) Act.

Advocate Varsha Deshpande had filed a complaint with the State government and the BMC against the 47-year-old actor for allegedly selecting and revealing the sex of the foetus.

The superstar has, however, chosen to keep silent on the issue. Efforts to contact Shah Rukh failed even today.

The is one more advertisement and paid stunt by the actor as i can understand, the hospital has hired him to advertise that people can follow this technique and we idiots think that what actors do is right and we follow, immitate or think it is right and safe to do such technique, instead going for natural one.

There is nothing wrong in having a Surrogate baby. This is a development in Medical Science.Without knowing why Sharukh and Gauri went for a Surrogate baby we should not comment. They have not Killed but given Life to a New Born Baby. They might have had their personal reasons which nobody knows . Why should we give negative comments in their personal issues. There are thousand of Men and Women who adopt this process just because a Woman can not hold the Child in her Foetus for nine months but thirst to have a baby .Gauri also might have had some reasons.Do you and me know ?????

Shahrukh and Gauri are not a childless couple but already have 2 grown up kids. Surrogacy should only be used by those who have no kids and want to have their only child. Why did Shahrukh and his wife want to bring another life to an already over populated country like India? This is just not his personal matter as it effects everybody else as well. What if everybody decides to have 3 kids saying it's their personal matter? It would only be making things more worse. Instead of taking stringent measures to control our popuation here we are glorifying a couple who had their third kid through surrogacy. Their is old saying which says "When destruction is eminent it is the understanding which is first destroyed." Seems it applies to the KHAN couple.

Surrogacy is an arrangement between a woman and a couple or individual to carry and deliver a baby. It is a controversial process that is not legal in all states. The surrogate mother is also known as a gestational carrier. In many cases, the process is an expensive, time consuming, and emotional one. Women or couples who choose surrogacy often do so because they are unable to conceive due to a missing or abnormal uterus, have experienced multiple pregnancy losses, or have had multiple in vitro fertilization attempts that have failed. The advantage of gestational surrogacy to the parents is that the embryo is created from the woman’s egg and the man’s sperm, so it is biologically theirs.

Surogacy is a complicated process. I mean its difficult for all to accept. Especially very difficuly to explain to the older generation.
I was trying to explain it my maid.. She did not understand.. Then I told her its like crreating the idli batter and fermenting at home but cooking it in neighbours idli maker.. She said ok..fine..
    Yes more difficult than this.!
Few of my friends think its totally wrong as its like misusing somebody for our gain(yes though with their approval) Its more like luring them with money to turn their bodies to machines.
To adopt a kid the needy parents have to go through cycle of legal process.. and in surrogacy its much more..
I always thought there are clause like we can go for surrogacy only if the wife cannot bear the child.. May be I was wrong.
