Mangalore: Rural areas will be part of 'Greater Mangalore' - Bava

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jun 7: B A Mohiuddin Bava, legislator representing Mangalore (north) constituency, said that added thrust is now being laid on the formation of Greater Mangalore. He informed that most of the rural areas presently falling in his constituency will become a part of this ambitious project.

He gave this information after handing over a memorandum containing this request to urban development minister, Vinay Kumar Sorake, on Thursday June 6 at Bangalore.

“Rural places falling under Gurpur, Neermarga, Ulaibettu, Adyar, Gangimutt and Paduperara gram panchayats, which are located in Mangalore (north) assembly constituency, will be included in ‘Greater Mangalore’ after obtaining the feedback from the citizens of these areas. I have submitted a memorandum in this direction to the minister, as promised during the election,” Bava said.

Bava informed that a copy of the above memorandum has already been submitted by him personally to state chief minister, Siddaramaiah, and that in-principle nod for the project has been obtained.

He added that the entire gamut of changes and progress these rural places will undergo if they are brought under the said project have been explained to the presidents of these panchayats. Bava also stated that development works at these places will gain momentum once they become part of Greater Mangalore.

    Bava Saheb,
As an MLA please provide good infrastructure, (Roads,24 hours water, electricity supply, Parks and other public amenities) to these areas. Public transport system in Mangalore and DK is not good. Most of the private city and service bus service in Mangalore and around is worst than the cattle class. Driving and attitude of the private bus staff is rude. Kindly work to improve the public transport system by introducing at least 50% KSRTC buses in all the routes. Just changing the status of area will not befit the people. As an MLA you can definitely provide above stated infrastructure and win favor of the people.|

The immediate benifit of greater Mangalore theory if becomes a reality, people resing in Kuppepadavu,Ganjimut, permude, neerumarga etc., have to pay house/property taxes in four time than they are paying now.No garbage lifting,no underground drainage facility,no 24X7 water facility,no good roads in next ten years and only status change at extra cost.It is just like hottege hittilla, jittige mallige hoo....

    @Shenoy,Mangalore,
Speculations of all kind and benefits to land mafia cannot be ruled out.

There are more negative effects than positive ones in this plan if the issue is not resolved in a very practical manner keeping in mind the immediate interests of the locals (poor) involved there.

    Mr.Bava,

You are a businessman, and your plan to make greater mangalore is understandable. Those who have enough will make more wealth by your plan, and those who have less will become complete pauper. Does that sound reasonable ? BTW what Palemar is doing these days ?

Create Greater Mangaluru by merging Mulki, Ullal, Bajpe, Mudubidri and parts of Bantwal. Bifurcate DK district into two - Mangaluru Urban and Putturu. Also, Mangaluru and Udupi can be d twin cities. When Kochi, Vishakhapatnam, Coimbatore etc. have become mega cities, why should good old Mangaluru lag behind? Keep off the interference of the local Mutts and swamijis in development of the region. Best of luck, Mangaluru!

Realtors befor the elections not rural people.
We have seen the problems and developments done in city corporation limits ,till today basic infrastructures are lacking behind in city corporation limits. Now new greater mangalore for whose benefit ?????

whenever the ULB and State ruled by same political parties the development of the area is much easier compare to the different parties in power . Whatever Mr. Bava said is what the last BJP govt plan i.e Project of Mangala cornich help the above said rural areas once the ring road pass these area.Mr. J.R.Lobo rightly said on his office open day that the projects taken up by Mr. Yogesh Bhat will be continued like Rangamandira , Mangala Stadium , market area devlopment, mangala Cornich project.Together Mr. Bhava and Mr. Lobo can take up the development task of both horizon/vertical development of the city as the MCC - State - Central Govt is of Congress party.I am least bothered here that who ate money but the concrete roads and hight of Vented Dam work taken by the last govt really help the present lawmakers of mangalore to discharge their duty peacefully

MLA sir,do you know that the nearest locality to MCC office i.e., Kodical area is not yet connected with underground drainage system though the pipes were laid five years back!
We are concerned with Nirmala Gram award rather than really becomng 'Nirmala'.Basically it is 'Neer-mala'!!!

Mangalore will be developed and we can see a sea change in coming 5 years.Central Govt's JNURM Yojana and Central govt's urban developmental based projects are to be brought to Mangalore City as Central and state govt are from one party.Infrastructure and basic amenities upgraded, particularly health, sanitation, road, water, electricity and transport system.Mere making greater Mangalore demographically not serve the purpose.Since MCC-STATE-UNION GOVTs are Mr Bava's party and therefore chances are more to materialize Mr Bava's dream.
