Kannada star Shruthi marries at Kollur Temple

Kundapur, Jun 6: Shruthi, a successful Sandalwood heroine, who has acted in over 120 Kannada films and some more in other languages including Tamil and Malayalam, married journalist-turned-movie director, Chandrachud Chakravarthy, at Goddess Mookambika Temple in Kollur at 7.15 am on Thursday June 6.

The marriage ceremony was a simple affair, with only a few close ones attending it. The actor, who has bagged several state and film fare awards, has a huge fan following.

The 37-year-old heroine and heart throb of millions, who was also seen on small screen in Malayalam and Tamil, had divorced her husband, Mahendar, sometime back.

After today’s marriage, she said that there was a little confusion among the minds of people about the venue of the her marriage, as some ceremonies and rituals had been completed at Shimoga. She announced that this was a birthday gift from her to her dear daughter.

Shruthi, who was with the BJP and had headed Karnataka State Women and Child Welfare Commission for some time, had changed her allegiance to KJP recently.

She said she knows Chandrachud, whom she termed as a sensitive and gentle personality having lot of respect for her, since theis school days. “We had taken a decision to marry each other long back. However, the time was not ripe,” she said.
