Udupi, May 29: Indian National Congress, Udupi block, organized a felicitation programme for Pramod Madhwaraj, for winning the Lok Sabha election, at Sheshashayana Hall on Tuesday May 28.

Addressing the gathering, MP Jayaprakash Hegde said that public opinion is important to our government. “Now that the people have chosen us as MLA, CMC, and even taluk panchayat members it is the right time to show the power of Congress. Effective work will be done only if the right person does the right job. This is the right time for that. The public have believed in us at all levels from the taluk till the CM level. We have to keep that belief and do good for them which will create a rapport between the public and public representatives. This relation is not temporary but should last for long,” he said.

“My responsibility is less towards the state and more towards the center. Now, I should get maximum grant for the state and the district,” he added.

“The public needed a change and we will give them the best. We look into the issue through the people’s domain. We are also the common man and the people made us leaders so they can ask or expect any service from us. We assured complete support in the administration to Pramod. Health aid should be promoted because health is the real wealth. Farming, fisheries, and special schemes for the SC/ST should also be availed soon,” said Hegde.

Madhwaraj thanked the voters and said that completing ‘Vision Document’ will be the main aim of the government. “We got rain this year at the right time which proves that God is with us.”

He added, “I am happy that on my right hand side is Oscar Fernandes and on the left will be Sorakke and Jayaprakash Hegde and these three will make me successful in my political career.”

Rajesh Shetty, president, Brahmavar Block Congress, William Martis, Dharmaguru, Udupi, Dinesh Puthoor, member, ACCI, Mudhu Shetty, Kisan Sangha, Narasimha Moorthi, Amruth Shenoy, Meenazi Madhava, P K Ramesh Poojari, Laxman Shenoy, Manoj Karkera, Diwakar Kundar, Prakash Kodavoor, Janardhan Thonse, and Yatheesh Karkera were present.

It is part and parcel of winning.
It is absurd from the word go, expect the winning candidates to work 24 hours just because they voted them to power?
Social functions related to the State are very necessary where people meet the elected member & vice versa and get a chance to interact face to face with each other.
People should complain vehemently if the elected member is not doing what he is supposed to do in a given time.

Please complain if the ministers\MLAs are all the time busy attending marriage or similar functions most of the time and forgets their real duty.

Once a person tastes these type of "shaalu sunmaana" felicitations,he statrs forgetting the basic of for what purpose he was elected by the voters. This is human tendency. There are leaders who even do not ready to be garlanded for any occasion. We Udupi/DK people are masters in "shaalu sunmaana" It is better to put a brake for such flicitations by peoples leaders....
