Mumbai: Amruth Sagar Circle–Mulund road named after Celine D’Silva

Mumbai, May 7: Maharashtra chief minister Prithiviraj Chauhan named the Ghatkopar West road connecting Amruth Sagar Circle to Mulund as ‘Celine D’Silva Road’ on Sunday May 5.

“D’Silva hailed from Kinnigolli Kirem in Dakshina Kannada and served as state finance minister in 1983-84 in the ministry of state chief minister Vasanth Dada Patel. She served as tourism and social welfare minister in 1985 in the ministry of Shivaji Rao Nirangekar. Hence in memory of D’Silva, the road is being named after her,” said Chauhan.

On this occasion, former union minister and present MP Gurudas Kamath, Nasim Khan Maharashtra state minister, MPCC president Janardhan Chandrukar, Maharastra State minority commission working president Munaf Hakim, opposition leader Nanraj Nikam, Jaganath Shetty, and standing committee member Sanjay Bulerao were present.

Working president of Celine D’Silva Foundation Janet Lawrence D’ Souza welcomed while Lawrence D’Souza thanked.
