Centre worried only about 'nephews and uncles': Modi

Devda (Guj), May 6 (PTI): Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday slammed the Union government for allegedly ignoring the state government's demand about construction of gates at Sardar Sarovar Narmada dam, and said the Centre was only concerned about "nephews and uncles".

"I alongwith our (BJP) leaders like Parsottam Rupala and L K Advani have urged the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh nearly 25 times, seeking Centre's permission to construct gates at Sardar Sarovar dam, but he does not pay any attention," Modi said while addressing a large gathering at Devda town, about 75 km from Rajkot.

The town is situated in the Saurashtra region which is facing an acute water scarcity.

"If gates are installed, the water problem of Maharashtra too will be solved. But Congress is not concerned about its own-ruled states as well. They are only worried about nephews, uncles...see how nephews have also jumped into the game," Modi said, in an apparent reference to the current bribery scandal involving the nephew of Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal.

Modi was speaking at 'Saurashtra Narmada Jal Avtaran Maha yagna' near Bhadar dam, organised by Saurashtra Jaldhara Trust.

"I also assured the Prime Minister that gates would not be operated if the Centre wants, but despite it he does not allow us to construct gates," he said.

The chief minister also said the construction of Kalpasar project would start soon as 80 per cent work on feasibility report was complete. "Once the project is operational, Saurashtra will not have water shortage for the next hundred years," he said.

Liar! Modi has been doing it time and again, speaking lies and presenting them as if they are the ultimate truth! Why blame the Centre when Narmada Water Dispute Tribunal has not permitted the installation of gates? The 84th meeting of the Narmada Control Authority (NCA) has clearly mentioned that Narmada Water Dispute Tribunal did not permit installation of gates on the dam because Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh governments have not fulfilled their respective responsibilities like rehabilitation and other project-related work. As per the NCA task force meeting held on January 8, 2012, Madhya Pradesh has to rehabilitate 1,457 project affected families, while Gujarat has to rehabilitate 333 project affected families of Maharashtra, before closing gates of the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Dam and construction of piers could be allowed.

But for NaMo 'worshipers' these things are immaterial. Actually NaMo is feeling the heat right under his seat since Gujarat is facing severe water crisis and the affected people are indeed furious. As usual, NaMo has started to blame the Centre for his own misdeeds and follies. He will blame UPA even if he gets cold and fever when in reality he is the biggest 'headache' for people of Gujarat.

Even if his marriage was broken, it is his personal matter. Every person has his personal life and one should not comment on personal matters.

If he had offered himself for second marriage, there would have been a heavy rush to marry a person of his stature, but he has not done so.

He has remained Brahmachary to serve the nation.

Even a married person can practice Brahmacharya by adhering to the principles of Brahmacharya.

The principles of Brahmacharya is not limited to the understandings of laymen. You can refer to any book or wikipaedia for the topic of Brahmacharya.

As regards to your words 'rotten apple', different people abuse him for different reasons.

All great persons including Jesus Christ and Mahatma Gandhi has to face such abuses.

In spite of all such difficulties, he has scored hatrik in Gujarat and developed it as a modern state.

I am sure he will lead our country to greater heights in the days to come.

    Dear C K DAYANANDA, MANGALURU

I can understand that all great people have had to face abuses but that does not mean that all people who face abuses are great people !!!
How can ever a person who stood by and allowed innocent Indians get slaughtered be called 'Great'. Such a person does not even deserve to be called a human.

Thief is a thief whether big or small. BJP too is not less in corruption. Karnataka is the best example. I think Modi forgot the corruption by Gadkari and his cronies. He needs to take memory pills.

Modiji is putting up the issues concerning Gujarat effectively before the Centre.

At the same time, he is highlighting the corruption of Congress skillfully.

When he speaks, Congress leaders become nervous and, as they do not have the capacity to counter him, abuse him with derogatory words.

We have seen Poojary & Co. doing this.

Why Congress is silent about BSY and Co. and Eshwarappa?

Because, they do not have the skill to do this and have lost credibility.

They are fit only to serve at the feet of Sonia and Rahul.

There is no surprise if Poojari does 'Urulu Seve' at the feet of Sonia.

Modiji has remained unmarried to give his full time to the service of the nation.

You can not expect an ordinary man to remain unmarried and control sexual desire.

Only great persons like Vivekananda and Modi can undertake Brahmacharya.

Dayananda..who told you that Modi is a bachelor? He is married but he has deserted his wife. But please don't compare Modi to Vivekananda. Modi is nowhere near to Vivekananda. Why you are comparing rotton apple (Modi) to an Apple (Vivekananda)??

It is sad you choose to parrot the half knowledge that the left leaning media has promoted.

    1. Modi(17) never saw Jasodaben(14) before the first ceremony, the marriage is binding only after the second ceremony called 'Gauna'.
2.He had no physical relationship with the bride.

Modi of course chose a life of service and celibacy by then and did not conclude the wedding.

The bride has chosen to remain a spinster and is a teacher.

It is irrelevant and small minded to pick on another man's personal and family issues instead of judging professional conduct.

If you are interested in further reading,
Section 5(iii) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955
Conditions for a Hindu marriage.—A marriage may be solemnized between any two Hindus, if the following conditions are fulfilled, namely :— (i) neither party has a spouse living at the time of the marriage (ii) at the time of the marriage, neither party— (a) is incapable of giving a valid consent to it in consequence of unsoundness of mind or (b)...

(iii) the bridegroom has completed the age of twenty-one years and the bride the age of eighteen years at the time of the marriage

How is a child of 14 supposed to give a valid consent??? Can the legal system a woman as married even if she decides against it after attaining majority? Pending such confirmation from the woman, can a marriage be considered legally void upto the time of consent or refusal?

Every intellectually mature person understands that being unmarried does not necessarily mean that one is not sexually active.
I dont know where did this information come from that Modi is controlling his sexual desires ???
How does one confirm such information ???
