Udupi, Apr 8: While the state Congress has said that the decision to not announce its CM candidate is part of its poll 'strategy', some of the party workers in Udupi are hoping that the coveted post would be held by their leader Siddaramaiah.
In a gesture that would perhaps gladden the state opposition leader who underwent a surgery recently, a few Congress workers here offered coconuts to god, praying that Siddaramaiah would be next the chief minister. They also prayed for his good health.
The party workers offered special prayers and coconuts at Parkala Mahalingeshwara Temple here on Monday April 8.
"Siddaramaiah is contesting from Varuna constituency; hence, along with his victory he should hold power and be the chief minister," said one of the partymen.
"I pray that Siddaramaiah wins by a majority of votes and becomes the chief minister, and sanctions good budget for development of the coastal belt," said Ganeshraj Saralabettu, a Congress worker.
