Five killed in bike collision


Lucknow, Mar 30 (IANS): Five persons including a child were killed late Friday night in a head-on collision between two motor bikes, police said.

The accident took place at Bhadoiya village in Mallihabad area of the state capital, when 25-year-old Raju was returning from a relative's house. He was hit by a speeding bike coming from the opposite side at the Tikrihaar turn.

The impact of the collision was so severe that the bikes became a mangled heap of steel.

The dead were identified as Rajneesh, his sister Meena, her son Agrim, Raju and Nand Kishore. All the dead were residents of Gagna village, about 80 km from state capital Lucknow.

While three people were killed on the spot, Meena and her son Agrim died at the city trauma centre, where they were rushed by police.

Superintendent of Police (SP) rural Saumitra Yadav told IANS that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem and the families have been informed of the tragedy.
