Mangalore, Mar 29: The BJP launched its poll campaign for the upcoming state Assembly elections with much fanfare during 'Vijaya Sankalpa Samevesha' a convention of party leaders and workers at Nehru Maidan here on Friday March 29.

The main speaker, BJP state president Prahlad Joshi took digs and Congress while also listing out BJP government's achievments in the last five years.

Claiming that BJP government had released Rs 200 crore for each city corporation while the earlier Congress government never did so, he said, "The Congress is like a bunch of magicians that swallows up money meant for projects."

"For the last five years, Rs 6 lac crore has been wasted on various scams like chopper deal, farmers debt waiver scam, CWG, Adarsh, and others," he pointed out, adding, "When D V Sadananda Gowda and Jagadish Shettar could waive debts for farmers, why can't the UPA do so too?"

He also said that during the entire regime of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the issue of price rise never cropped up in the Parliament for a single day.

Speaking on Karnataka politics, he said Shettar, Sadananda Gowda, Eshwarappa, R Ashok and Ananth Kumar are the 'pancha pandavas' of the Karnataka government and the party workers are the 'sarathis' of the chariot.

"I know people have pain and confusion in their minds because of allegations of corruption during the first part of our regime, but this time we seek votes in the name of development. We ask forgiveness for what we have done in the past and urge people to vote for us, while also promising that such mistakes will not happen again," Joshi said.

"We should win this election and also make Narendra Modi our PM and thereby increase development by four folds," he added.

Referring to the coal scam of the UPA, he said the Congress-led UPA government has provided licences to private companies with permission letters from Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, without auctioning for them. "How much coal have you (UPA) given to Karnataka?" he questioned.

On Commonweath Games scam, he said that it was during Atal Bihari Vajpayee's regime during 2003 that it was first planned to hold the Games in India, and for which the NDA government had allocated Rs 20,000 crore but when the Games were hosted by the UPA later on, the cost came up to Rs 80,000 crore as even the ropes and tiles were imported from foreign countries.

"Atal Bihari Vajpayee brought fame to the country by conducting Pokhran nuclear test without bothering about the US, but Manmohan Singh's government has brought only shame to the nation," he said.

He also referred to the Italian marines issue and said that Congress has special love towards Italy and it was because of the stern stand by the Supreme Court and not the UPA that the marines came back for trial.

"Manmohan Singh is 'Maun Mohan', while Montek Singh Ahluwalia gives bizarre statements such as a person who owns more than 34.10 paise is not poor. The samosa he eats would itself cost Rs 150," he said.

"During Vajpayee's rule 20 km of road was constructed per day, but the Congress cannot construct even 2 km of road in a month," he said.

Home minister R Ashok called upon the BJP workers to visit each and every house during the election campaign.

Taking potshots at the state Congress, he said presently all Congress leaders were in Delhi hotels fighting or tickets. "To become a leader in JD(S), they need the blessings of father and son (Deve Gowda and Kumaraswamy), in Congress they need influence with the Gandhi family, but in BJP there is no such thing. Prahlad Joshi is a common BJP activist who has today become the BJP state president," he said.

"State government has done number of good developmental works. The facilities in transportation system has changed, and the number of buses have increased. Congress could not establish a commissioner's office in the city, but the BJP has done that," he said.

Open challenge to Janardhan Poojary

D V Sadananda Gowda in his address openly challenged Congress leader Janardhan Poojary to list out the achievements of Congress in the last 50 years as against the achivements of BJP in five years. He said any leader of BJP can confront any Congress leader on this point.

Batting for Narendra Modi's candidature as PM, he said, "People are expecting development with Gujarat as the model. Under Modi's leadership we can do this."

"Earlier the state budget was Rs 34,000 crore but it was increased to Rs 1.15 lac crore by us. This is the achievement of BJP," he added.

"We have achieved so much but unfortunately people talk about corruption and internal conflicts in the party. We know that our workers are pained by certain developments. In the first three years during BJP regime (under Yeddyurappa) there was cry of corruption and confusion, but later in the last two years during mine and Jagadish Shettar's regimes there was not a single case of corruption," he said, adding that the state saw only development under him and Shettar.

"The state's Sakala intiative was even discussed in the Parliament and a central team had come to study it. If people give us opportunity we will surely turn Karnataka into a fully developed state," he said.

Referring to Congress, he said presently Siddaramaiah and Parameshwar groups are in Delhi fighting for tickets."The debt waiver scam of the UPA proves that the central government is not in favour of farmers. There is no respect for women in Delhi, and soldiers are beheaded in Kashmir but the centre is not bothered, instead it is still holding free talks with Pakistan," he said.

On the occasion, Nagaraj Shetty, Kutharguttu Chandrahas Adyantaya, Dinesh Kayarmar, Akbar Badshah Suralpady, Narasimha Hegde, Preetham Shetty, Siddu and Nonaiah joined BJP.

Nagaraj Shetty said that from past 43 years he has been a member of Sangh Parivar and he was happy to join his 'mother party' back. "For clean democratic rule, we need Narendra Modi as our PM," he said.

Nalin Kumar Kateel said that with the blessings of Mysore’s Goddess Chamundeshwari, this Vijaya Sankalpa Samevesha had kicked off. “The BJP government is giving importance to ideology. The good relationship between Kannadigas and Tamilians was increased by installing the statute of Sarvajna in Tamil Nadu and Tiruvalar in Karnataka. When the problem arose in Belgaum we established a Vidhana Soudha there. The BJP has undertaken several development projects but Congress has only looted the state. Kota Srinivas Poojary said rightly that what the Congress has not done in 60 years, the BJP has done in five years. The state government has increased pension rates, increased the salary of librarians, and ‘D’ category workers. A subsidy of Rs 75,000 to build houses has been given to the common man,” he added.

Devadas Shetty compered while Padmanabha Kottary welcomed the gathering.

Yogish Bhat, Krishna J Palemar, Mallika Prasad, Angara, Sulochana Bhat, Capt Ganesh Karnik, Monappa Bhandary, Rukmayya Poojary, Gangadhar Gowda, Bakila Ugrappa, Balakrishna Bhat, Koragappa Naik, Pratap Simha Nayak and others were present.

Dear BJP Leaders Development is not enough to rule the country.India need secular Democratic govt. to rule diffrent faith groups. For eg.Saddam Hussain did lot of delopment for his country, But he favoured one community and neglected other community. So dear BJP Leaders, communal harmony is very important. If you support all the religions without partiality, BJP will be the Best Political party to rule India.

Mistakes made by ignorance can be forgiven. But deliberate actions to hurt other communities cannot be forgiven at any cost. The honour of disturbing the communal harmony goes to BJP - directly or indirectly. Until the last assembly elections BJP and its allies sowed the seeds of hate and hatred in the name of illegal cattle transport and love jihad by Muslims. After the last assembly elections they took up the non-existent issue of religious conversions by Christians. After coming to power in the state they have done enough evil which people can neither forgive nor forget. Anyone knowing the true colours of BJP will never elect it to power again, irrespective of his/her religion. As for corruption charges by BJP against other political parties, they should remember that every politician is sailing on the same boat.

If new BJP chief Prahlad Joshi wanted the Public to forgive them for their past misdeeds:
Let BJP & RSS leadership apologise to the Christian and Muslim communities for all their misdeeds.
Let BJP & RSS leadership punish their foot-soldiers for vendalising the public properties in the name of culture protection.
Let BJP & RSS leadership return back the looted wealth from Bellary mines by the Reddy cartels and their various associates.
Let BJP & RSS leadership return back all the prime Govt and private lands transferred to the name of their family members.
Let BJP & RSS leadership promise not to divide the community in the name of religion for vote bank.
Let BJP & RSS leadership stop promoting religion from back doors through school text books, hate speeches, donating more than law permitted to the temples for the vote bank.
Let Sangh Parivar stop taking India back to the medieval period instead look forward to the 22nd Century.
Indian youth is interested in developed India with world standard living condition for all citizens, job for all the jobless, dignified living for the downtrodden.
Let BJP & RSS leadership promote peace and harmony for all including, intentionally neglected Muslims, the second largest population of India and the world.
BJP & RSS leadership please don’t give political speeches and hollow promises with the eye on 2014 election because ‘Ye Jo Public Hai, Ye Sab Jaanti Hai’.

    1. Good reporting unbiased.
    2. Good pics Thanks daiji..s
    3. Good day chosen Good Friday.

Now come to realize the fact that if we forgive this panch, 1. we can invite Africa kind of politics and development (Africans are better I know it) 2. All minorities will find living difficult like Malala was shot in Af people can expect to be hurt physically, socially and economically besides for sure, ethically. 3. Karnataka will be known not as a state but as nataka stage 4. Places of worship will be used like warships only to hurt rather than building communities, people and the nation. (Please check how many of their relatives/kin in armed forces (I am not referring to sene's please excuse)5. please see roads in Shimoga/HD kote etc. build from state money? all without proper compacting but DK/Udupi getting loans and bonds roads to be paid back with interest. From the first category you can loot a lot second is monitored but yet found ways to siphon off a lot.
MAY BE WE NEED ARTICLES SPACE TO WRITE ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE LAST 5 YEARS AND WILL NEED STRONG/POWERFUL VIEWING GLASSES TO FIND PATRIOTISM/FRATERNITY AND TRUE DEVELOPMENT.
Any how, thanks daiji for giving our respected voters a chance to think before they vote rather, see the colours of kamala growing in marsh, pulling by its beauty into deep waters never to return to safety. GOOD FRIDAY BUT CORRUPTED INTENTIONS ON A HOLY DAY MEANT FOR FORGIVENESS. Let us forgive and live peacefully by by voting for right candidates with good background and sincerity in serving the nation. DO NOT HATE THEM FOR WHAT THEY DID BE SMART AND DO RIGHT.

Since BJP came to power, I have been reading this site. The first set of opinion was Reddy brothers are looting in the mining side and BSY cant do anything. But Reddy's most business was done in Andhra side where Congress was ruling. BSY acted strictly against Reddy Bros. and banned ore mining. Reddy's eventually went under CBI scanner and never could come out. Then people have written against BSY as corrupt based on Santhosh Hegde report. Then CBI took it under control and BSY is now out of power and dancing to the tunes of CBI. Yeddy gone, Reddy Gone. In BJP regime, the most corrupt in power went out of power because of Lokayuktha and CBI. But if you are corrupt and if you are in the shelter of Sonia, you dont need to worry. The Cong protects it's corrupt very well. It is free HAND to corruption. In the history of independent India, you never heard a CM going out of office on corruption charges. It happened because of people like Advaniji and the CM happened to be BJP CM. BJP people go under scrutiny whereas the dynasty never undergoes scrutiny. Modiji went under the grind of CBI, SIT, SC and all the motivated corrupt journalists and still came out unscathed and clean. BJP is party with difference. Trust BJP. Even if there are bad elements, they will be removed. But in Cong, they will be appreciated and never be let down.

The development work for the city like mangalore city is nothing comparing to other cities ,only the the land price is shooting up like anything without any account because of land mafia some infrastructure projects are stopped in the middle of the way,no one monitoring builders who have grown up to millioneirs just in few years make huge money for which there is no account without paying tax should be given some task to develop roads, footpaths, streetlights, drainage systems etc area wise .

Joshiji you should not only ask the people to forgive the PAST Mistakes, but you should also apologize in advance for FUTURE mistakes too. Bcoz, even if you are elected back to power you will continue with same mistakes in future also. See how you have taken back Modi of Bantwal -Nagaraj Shetty back in your fold, and also See how your boys are still continuing with Moral Policing. yesterday they have beaten two innocent youths on Malpe beach.

In our Bible Jesus Christ said on Good Friday "Forgive them for they do not know what they are doing". Now we have our politicians who say that we should forgive them for the blunders they have committed. We have lost precious 5 years. The voters experienced the bad rule of the congress for 55 years and the voters thought it is time for change and voted a new party to come to power. From Day one the attack, the loot started which bought a bad name to our state and also to mangalore. Now the voters have experienced the BJP and the congress and it is time for change. We have to watch the voters and the contesting leaders. Time to make a deep study of the leaders whom we are going to vote. People should sit back and think properly that what kind of leaders we need in our government. We don't want leaders who say after 5 years that we are sorry and we made lots of mistakes. Kids commit mistakes but they don't rob us but our leaders who are elders and matured in life not only commit mistakes but also loot us for 365 days x 5 years. We need to give a chance to women leaders to rule the state. There are lots of leaders in the villages who can make a difference to the daily life of the women. Time has come to think, to retrospect and to use our precious vote rightly

Forgive us for what we have done in the past - BJP chief Prahlad Joshi!!. Forgive and give us another chance to rob much more from the state, to attack places of worship, to do more moral policing, to grab more of the government land, to swallow money allocated to government projects, to help BJP leaders under investigations , to create more poverty and rob poor people, to steal money allocated to roads. Do you want more? Shamless fellows and see that Nagaraja Shetty speaking. Has he got no shame? Don't worry, the voters are not idiots like you take them to be.

The outcome of VIJAYA SANKALPA YATHRA in Mangalore has following salient features

    1) Gangadhara Gowda(ex Minister) from Belthangady,in fact never participated in any party works might be ed for BELTHANGADY CONSTITUENCY AGAINST VASANTH BANGERA OF CONGRESS!!!!

2)BJPians are in defensive mood and focusing Ex PM AB Vajapayee of his developmental ruling undr NDA

3)we don't know state BJP might be smelling loss and batting for Modi 2014 LS election!!!?

4)It is unprecedented that, if we compare all state govt since Independence, this govt of BJP has more law makers were seriously corrupt(Then EX CM BSY went for a brief stay in Jail,Dozens of ministers were charge sheeted for various corruption charges,One Minister(reddy)still in jail,Dozens of MLAs are accused of land grabbing etc etc.

5)BJP has no moral right to accuse other party when it's own then National Party President, then state party President were raided and charge sheeted in the court of law.

6)By latest,Renukacharya accused DVS,Pralad Joshi,Ish,had taken suit cases of Money in crore from him and even challenged to come to any temple for the issue!!!!!!

7)Why BJP need forgiveness of the voters? In five years 3 CMs, 2 DCMs more than 30 by-elections for OPERATION Ka Mala ,uninterrupted governance and moment of uncertain moments more than one occasion.

7)In law and order subject BJP neglected grossly allowing it's sister concerns to attack place of worships of minorities and moral policing through out of Karnataka and especially in twin coastal districts.
Summery...People of Karnataka have given a golden opportunity for BJP first time in South India in which BJPians had responsibilities and accountability more than other parties who were tasted the power number of times. But for everybody's surprise BJP's ambitious corrupt politicians wasted it.THERE IS NO CHANCE OF VOTERS FORGIVING BJP THIS TIME IN FACT, WAITING FOR THE CHANCE TO TEACH A MEMORABLE LESSON. So "VIJAYA SANKALPA ILLADA YAATHRE"

In Mangalore, we get the few Samosas for Rs 150. There is one Ajja in St. Aloysious High School sells each Samosa for five rupees. May be you refering to five star resort price for a samosa that you had a meeting this week to solve internal party issues.

Also, people who challange others should LIST FIRST what their accomplisment were in last five years of their state rule which is mostly used for internal fights. Shame on all such hypocrites and not able to help common people.

This statement is to only to get votes and then start resort politics and some type KAMALA operation.
