Why are women candidates missing from Ktaka list - Sonia questions KPCC

Daijiworld Political correspondent - New Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 29 : In a humiliation to Karnataka top Congress leaders KPCC president Dr Parameshwar and state opposition leader Siddaramaiah on Thursday March 28 evening, in an important meeting held to finalise the first list of Assembly poll candidates, Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi angrily questioned the leaders for the near-absence of women candidates' names in the list.

Fuming over the issue, Sonia demanded, "Why is there only one woman's name in the first list of 130 Congress candidates?" She was reportedly upset with the leaders for sidelining women representation while finalising the list.

Because of this sole reason, on Thursday Congress high command could not finalise the list, and postponed the final selection meeting of 130 candidates to Saturday March 30.

Highly placed sources told daijiworld Delhi correspondent that only Umashree's (Kannada film actor and sitting MLA) name featured in the first list. She is almost the confirmed candidate from Teradala constituency.

Sonia has reportedly urged the leaders to consider at least one seat for woman per Lok Sabha constituency or district.

Sonia's order has now given a bright chance for Shakunthala Shetty from Puttur and Kripa Alva from Mangalore North.

In the meantime, sensing very few names of Youth Congress candidates in the first list, state Youth Congress president Rizwan has offered to resign if their members do get enough representation. On the other hand, there are strong rumours that if Rizwan himself is denied the ticket, KJP has opened its arms to welcome him to its fold, as he has some strong links with KJP leaders.

On March 30, if the list is finalized, several Congress wickets are expected to fall and knock at the neibhours' doors !

That shock - firstly his most favourite Politician yeddy leaving BJP and the double shocker MCC polls have reeked havoc on Mr. D. poojary hence lately his remarks are of a shocked BJP follower and just to perk up his sagging confidence in BJP, he remarks thus.
Otherwise earlier he used to write so well, it was always good to read his comments for me to learn from that.
    Come back D. Poojary

I wish all political parties field candidates based on their moral character and ability to solve their local problems than gender. No gender is immune to corruption. Women candidates are also equally biased and corrupt as their male counterparts are.

Shakunthala Shetty is only the hope for Congress in Puttur Constituency, she has the good support from common people (she was able to grab around 25K votes as an independent candidate).

Hope so called leaders of DK congress works towards this to choose Shakunthala Shetty as their candidate for Puttur constituency.

Kripa Alva being fielded, BJP need not worry of wining a seat easily, and fielding a decent politicians like Yogish Bhat will be a cake Walk, as Kripa's past record does not do well to have a MLA of that repute, though she is a women, if there aren't available they can choose the right one where there are, just chosing one will be only a waste, as for Shakunthala Shetty, a deserving candidate, but if DVS is pitted again a tough choice for the congress

Due to Sonia Gandhi's very important deliberation on Candidate list and pinpointing women empowerment through politics,I think women fraternity of Karnataka cutting party lines will vote for Congress. That is very very important and crucial issue which Sonia Gandhi raised and a modified list including 16 LADY CANDIDATES are already dispatched to Delhi!!!!!What a triumph to Sonia Gandhi and women folks as well.Importantly, other parties are also forced to review their list!!!!

With regard to P J Kuriesn, Supreme Court has already given judgement in favour of P J Kurien.
In fact, his lawyer representing him not body other than BJP stalwart Arun Jaitley.

Once he has been cleared by Supreme Court, then How come Mr Dinesh sarcastically giving example to PJ Kurien in comparision for the reservation to women.

Here Sonia Gandhi advising KPCC President to give more seats to women, at least one seat in ONE LOK Sabha.

If a person is honest, sincere and seriously willing to serve the common man he/she will a party for the sake of getting a ticket. If a person is individually strong enough, he/she can context independently. Once you join a party, one has to abide by the party rules. So, your goal can not be achieved working within a party.
The bottom line is: "You can never ever change a party time and again". And once you change the party, it is evident that your motto is securing POWER and definitely not serving a common man. So, never relay on a person changing the party.

Congress leaders in Karnataka have not learnt their lesson in the last few years. They are still selfish and want their pound of flesh. There are so many women working selflessly for the party and it is high time they are represented. Go on fighting and you you will loose this election also. People who jump from party to to party should not be given a seat at least for five years so that they prove themselves to be honest.

Kripa Amar Alva can be tried from Mangalore if prioritise woman candidature. In that case advantage BJP if candidate is Yogish Bhat.
