Bangalore: Congress list of 3-5 'probable' candidates from each of 224 seats ready

From Our Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Mar 17: Of the 2,150 applicants for the Congress party tickets from the 224 assembly constituencies in Karnataka, the election panels of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has shortlisted names of 3 to 5 ''probables” from each of the constituencies for the ensuing state assembly elections.

AICC General Secretary Madhusudan Mistry, who is the party in-charge for Karnataka, and Secretary Hanumantha Rao held discussions with KPCC President Dr G Parameshwar and Congress Opposition leaders Siddaramaiah and S R Patil in the State assembly and council respectively along with senior party leaders as part of the continued discussions since Saturday.

The AICC team held division-wise consultations with the leaders of the four revenue divisions, and later decided to brief Goa’s former chief minister Luisino Falero, who has been appointed by the AICC as the chairman of the State Election Committee, on the deliberations and decisions taken by the party on Saturday and Sunday upon his arrival in Bangalore to participate in the ongoing deliberations on electoral preparations, which is going on a private resort, Clarks Exotica, at the Bangalore International Airport Road at Devanahalli, off city outskirts.

The Congress meeting unanimously decided against considering any candidates with criminal antecedents for grant of party tickets. However, the social justice ideology profounded by late Devaraj Urs as well preference to women, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and backward classes as well as youth in accordance with the wishes of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi would be followed as the main guidelines in the selection of party candidates, according to an official press release from the party.

Union ministers from Karnataka like former chief minister M Veerappa Moily, Mallikarjuna Kharge, K Rehman Khan and K H Muniyappa and senior party leaders like Oscar Fernandes, Dharam Singh, B Janardhana Poojary, B K Hariprasad, C K Jaffer Sharief, C Motamma, M V Rajashekaran, Kagodu Thimmappa, R V Deshpande, H K Patil, D K Shivakumar, Allum Veerabhadrappa and B L Shankar took part in the deliberations.

In the ensuing assembly election there is absolute posibilty of Congress and alliances gaining chance of forming the government in the state.Election manifesto should be very prudent and clear as to what they are going to offer to the people/state.There should also a Commitee of intelectuals/profesionls to monitor the implementation of promises made in the manifesto. So far there were no such mechanism in this regard.Congres should clearly understand the pulse of the people that they are in favour of change only after frustrated by BJP rule and not heartily liking the party as it a known devil. They will prefer a known devil to unknown and to dont want to get hurted. So Congress need to stress its candidates on performance and non corruption. This time pl do not rely on minority factor while ing the candidates.Target is BJP and only BJP.

i not agree with u r numbers as political mood & real piture shows like congrs will get majority.

this is bcoz of not congrs done go work in center or state it is only bcoz BJP fighting and BJP vote share is divided in 3 party now.

fact is in India Karnataka only one state were congrs has improved its vote share.unlike AP,Delhi, Maharashtra etc.

Based on the recent past records, Karnataka always in the wrong foot because when Congress ruling at Central we had Opposition ruled Government. People of Karnataka should not allow happening like this since Central is going to be NDA led Government this time. More over few developmental works always supported by Central Funds, e.g. National Highways, Power Projects, etc. If we have same Government at Central & State, more coordination expected since no one will oppose the developmental works at State. Whether it is BJP or Congress, both Parties should keep away some non-performers, criminals, degree in Scam & Corruptions and un-fit old age Politicians those who can’t speak, see & act. Young Politicians should be given chance to lead the nation but again not those people who indulge in minority or majority pampering & poisonous religious minded people

What the guys here haven't realised is even with 1965 seats won in ULB,congress can only win in 88 seats and not 120 odd seats.

If ULB results are converted into 224 assembly seats then the parties would get seats like this

    Congress - 88
    Jd(s) - 42
    BJP - 42
    KJP - 13
    BSR - 8
    Independents - 20

It means hung Assembly in which case Jd(s) will again be in high demand.

And still more bad news for congress is, jd(s) although did not take more no of seats in places like mandya, hunsur, Kr nagar has taken more no of votes than congress in these places.

So congress, your strongest enemy Jd(s) is still quite strong. until jd(s) is strong, dont even dream of 130 seats to Congress.

    Dear Daiji:

I appreciate your news world wide. This time Karnataka Legislative assembly Congress will have 75% majority in the election and I feel this time Congress will bag easily 156 assembly seats. There will be a historic result in Udupi Mr. Pramod Madhwaraj winning the record high votes in the history of Udupi and Karnataka. He is not only a gentleman, he is honest and does what he says. One of the greatest Philenthropist of karnataka. He should become the chief Minister of Karnataka and he will run a clean governance. Karnataka will be a model State and will become no. 1 state of India. Let us hope for the best. Three cheers to Mr. Madhwaraj.

I will give one important Observation in the recent Local Body elections in Karnataka .In the Gokak Muncipality Both Congress , BJP and even JDS wash out not even a single seat .All 31 seats Gone to Independents.Congress having won so many seats all over why Could not win even a single seat there ? Reason is simple .The Local MLA was a Congress MLA called Mr Jarkhiholi .He was probably not consulted while alotting Tickets . After all Congress is a HIGH COMMAND Driven Party. BJP aslo has this High Command problem that lead to Ouster of BSY .More importance to Local Leaders Better the Chances of win People are smarter now
