Udupi: T G Abraham to take legal action against illegal sand mining

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (VM)

Udupi, Feb 17: Social activist T G Abraham who had taken legal action against illegal mining in Bellary is now in the district to take similar recourse against illegal sand mining in Udupi.

Based on several complaints by the citizens of the district against illegal sand mining, T G Abraham on Saturday February 16 visited Kukkehalli where Koje soil is being removed and in Uppoor where illegal sand mining reportedly takes place. After investigating the place, he said that he was ready to take legal action against it.

Speaking to media persons, Abraham said, "Sand mining is rampant in the district and hence I have been called here. After RTI activist Vasudeva Adiga’s demise I had told Jayaprakash Hegde that I will be visiting the district to take legal action."

On the state of illegal mining in the district, he said the situation was similar to that in Bellary. "The mining work should be stopped at this stage itself for the safety of environment and we will solve it like in Bellary," said Abraham.

"Our fight is legal and we will bring a logical end to the problem," said the activist.

"The problem among some of the the activists is that they target only some people who are into illegal business, this should not happen and we should target all people irrespective of caste, creed, religion who are going against the law," he said.

"The illegal miners in the district are very strong, I do not understand why they are left free," said Abraham adding that the miners are backed by influential powers.

After making of several small dams / Uppu-Neeru-Tade-Gode etc. across undivided DK, would helped quite few people. But, did anybody know what happened to other side (front side) of dam area? There is no sufficient water flow, would lead to green patched looks like Island (Kudru). Now a day you cannot do fishing, even ground level water (well water) has also gone down drastically in front areas. Because of sand mining digging somewhat helps particularly on this issue and even govt. not came up the strong rules to making sand mining as organized business.
The real threatening issue is some people are digging near Road Bridge/ railway bridge/dam etc. This should be stopped immediately…

While I appreciate anyone that fights against corruption, I would also like to request Mr.Abraham to make alternate arrangements for legal mining of sand so that the construction industry, real estate business and home and property buyers will not be effected too.
I would also appreciate if he will bring charges against all MLAs and MPs from Coastal areas against their hand in this matter and also against their ill gotten wealth before the coming elections.

Abraham has taken on corruption of CONG/BJP/JDS.

But BJP agents accuse him not fighting against mining everywhere!
If so much illegal sand mining else where known to them, why cant BJP agents take up? No guts?

    Why depend on Abraham alone?

The action to be taken in udyavara and manipura also, there is lot of sand business is going on and the people living near the river has difficult time to move around specially the ladies and girls. These things are only in writing and even for the sake of money some people who are supporting them also. So whatever news comes in the paper, keeping trust to solve the problem is very rare......

    All Congi agents,

Can you guys look at comments from Kiran Gowda, Kanakapura and send the so called CORRUPTION CRUSADER to Kanakapura? Kanakapura is only 40-50 kms from his residence in Bangalore. Is he scared or influenced ?

BTW, I clearly said probe should not be politically biased and I am not the supporter of any illegal activities.

TG Abraham is an REPUTED anti corruption crusader, like we have Arvind Kejriwl in Delhi.
All crusaders need not go to DELHI alone and allow corruption AT OTHER PLACES.
TJ Abraham had filed his objections to High Court on the petitions by NICE (Nandi Economic Corridor Enterprise)
The complaint filed by Abraham has former prime minister Deve Gowda, former chief ministers S M Krishna and B S Yeddyurappa as accused.

Dinesh Poojary, is sand mining done by BJP? Then why do you call him Congress agent? Anyone is free to take legal recourse. If BJP is not doing sand mining, then they no need to worry.
I have seen you naming so many people (in other comments) as Congress agents? By the way are you a BJP agent? At least your language shows that.

If you have any guts come to Kanakapura and take action against DK Shivakumar, who single handedly looted our taluk/district from the last 20 years. All quarries have been emptied and assume how much he and his subordinates have eaten up. He deserves more severe punishment than janardhana reddy. He is defended and supported by SM Krishna and other few congress politicians. Tejashwini tried to expose his karmakanda, but her mouth has been shut.

Have you listened to his speech??

At one point he says 'ed target..ed target. No, ed target alla..' This kind of confusion in his speech clearly shows he has come here as congress agent. May be congress has promised him MLA ticket from Mangalore...

We support his probe into illegal sand mining if it is politically unbiased.
