Mangalore, Feb 16: The officers of customs at Mangalore Airport on Friday February 15 seized commercial quantity of 83 cartons of foreign-made cigarettes totally valued at Rs 83,000, from three passengers.

The passengers have been identified as Shaidu Manakkad Thekke Peedikayil and Moideenkunhi Bangarakunnu Abdulla from Kasargod, and Kunhikoya Thangal from Bantwal.

They had arrived by Air India Express flight IX 384 from Dubai.

The cigarette cartons and packets are liable for confiscation as they do not bear statutory pictorial health warning as prescribed under Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Packaging and Labelling) Rules, 2008 and the amendment Rules, 2009, stated a press note from commissioner of Mangalore customs D Purushottam.

Further investigations are on.

What difference does it make to the smokers anyways if it kills or gives them a kick. They are least bothered who's around!

The reason for confiscation that the non-smoking public will not know what kind of a smoke it is? They can probably run off, if a skeleton is imprinted on the packet, isn't it?

Sine the bureaucracy cannot implement smoking strictures and our public ethicates are at it low I have a suggestion to enforce smokers to wear black attire with skeleton printed on it. This will surely scare the non smoking public run away from these "devils"!
