Mangalore, Feb 14: A man was found battered to death at Bajpe here on Thursday February 14.

The deceased has been identified as Yashwant (34), a resident of Sankalateriya, Mundkur. He was a barber by profession.

Speaking to daijiworld, Bajpe SI Dinakar Shetty said that Yashwant had come to Bajpe for the Mahakali festive procession held at Kinnipadavu on February 14.

Yashwant was found dead in a half-constructed house on Thursday, and it is suspected that he was murdered on the night of Wednesday February 13. His head was smashed with a heavy beam, Dinakar Shetty said.

Police suspect that robbery might have been the motive for the murder, as a gold chain is said to be missing.

A case has been registered in the Bajpe police station.
