Mangalore: Bajrang Dal to oppose Valentine’s Day celebration

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Feb 13: Bajrang Dal has announced that it will oppose activities connected with Valentine’s Day, which has been dedicated to lovers. Valentine’s Day is annually held on February 14.

In a statement, Bajrang Dal said that in the name of Valentine’s Day and love, obscene and immoral activities are undertaken. These in turn, are playing havoc with the cultural values cherished by the country since times immemorial, it said.

The organization has urged the district administration not to permit holding of DJ, pubs, or dances connected with Valentine’s Day. It also has urged the administration to initiate action against people who are found to be behaving indecently in public places including parks.

It also said that the district administration will be solely responsible for unsavoury incidents if any, which may occur on account of the administration’s failure to initiate action on the above lines.

Well for someone who writes as well as you do,welcome to the 21st century...lots of people out there agree with you(in principal )what you say is not offending ,just naive .
You live in the 21st century..
For a special occasion you do have a b'day so does more or less all people u know i suppose..Do u not wish them ..The onset of the internet has changed the traditional ways of greeting one another .. would your dad who is 70 years old( hypothetically) like a hug and a small token of appreciation(be it a card,a razor,a shawl etc) or just empty words and an electronic card he cant even get to see..
Tradition has its own charm, each generation and modicum of communication will change what we do today.what the internet,SMS , internet calling,GSM is today in all probability wont be the same in just 20 years from now .
Its best that we all learn to adapt and change with time.I will give you three examples of change in society that is evident and if we do some sincere introspection within ourselves we will agree.
1)Ours was a nation just 60 years ago that practiced child marriage and SATI, to the REVOLT we saw by all in the Delhi rape case .. have we not progressed?
2)About 23 years ago India saw its first flavour of consumerism in a retail fast food brand called "MAGGI- two minute noodels " to KFC ,Dominoes,Smart phones, Mixers, grinders, tava machines, instant coffee makers, washing machines, vaccum cleaners, ABS in cars, onset of sanitary privileges for both men and women,IMFL,gearless mopeds, women driving(unlike Saudi Arabia), an equal education ratio for both men and women since the last census .. compared to 38% for women two decades ago..Thats progress not to mention MRI's CT scans, and other medical related improvements.
    3) Marriages where based on social standings and societal positioning ,caste, creed and religon.
The youngsters of today have a choice of ing their life partners(agreed by trial and error )but they still have the magic word "CHOICE"

    Dear fellow citizens of India,
Why are you against festivities?? These are an earning opportunity to many poor families. Many dream about doing some good business/earnings. Good and bad is there in everything. Only depends on how we look at.
Instead of coming in the way of freedom, why cant safeguard freedom?? Internet has both good and bad - can we stop this??
Better to watch the gotalas and lift the country from curruption. Definitely you too will enjoy Valentines Day joyfully......

Now since VHP in Delhi has given a green signal to celebrate Valentines Day, who are Bajrang Dal in Mangalore to Oppose it?
Please allow our younger generation to enjoy all the festivals including Valentines day to the fullest.
Otherwise, the wealthy will go to nearest places like Bangalore, Goa and celebrate and spend the money there.
Only the middle class and poor will suffer in Mangalore.

Its love wen a little girl puts her energy to give her dad a head massage
Its love when wife makes tea for husband and takes a sip before him
Its love when mother gives her son the best piece of cake
Its love when your friend holds your hand tightly on a slippery road
Its love When your brother messages you and asks did you reach home on time
Love is not just a guy holding a girl and going around the city…

We people of Mangalore have to be blamed for encouraging such groups. Such kind of incidents never take place in Bangalore and other cities. If everybody unites and stands against these jobless scoundrels, they will be confined to their homes and will never dare to harass the peace loving people of Mangalore.

It is not Eastern or Western culture, can anyone assure that only couples loving each other will exchange gifts on that day. what happens that these couples meet, exchange gifts and all the parks are full of such couples who are indulged in love making there, some youth who are outlawed and single gets frustrated by this and think every girl as a whore and try their chance, if they fail, then incident like acid attacks, more recently Delhi case occurs and then again these couples demand justice. India is not that western enough that people do not care if couples are making love in the garden, this gives rise to eve teasing and other serious crimes by frustrated youngsters,

so Bajrang Dal is doing its duty in letting the Indians know that you are not enough western yet to try these customs as you may enjoy, but someone will pay the cost and Indians shall certainly not tolerate,

here in Miami, USA, no one is concerned if there are couples in garden kissing, but if even a couple is talking in India, students sharing notes, boys will gather around as people from other planet have landed there

No one has given Bajrang Dal any right but at least do some Moral policing yourself and avert another Delhi incident as people will be frustrated by your acts and when they are in influence of liquor or drugs, you can imagine what will they do,
if any person will try to give any sort of gift to my relatives on that name, I will not spare them, whosoever they are,
ONCE A BAJRANGI ALWAYS A BAJRANGI

    Mangalore!
Such a beautiful place, now in news for all wrong reasons. Action and a reaction. By some morons and puppets.
Firt of all what is happening s nothing in the confined boundary of demcracy. People fight in the name of relgion and power. Ideology of unity and peace is all shown in ADs and books which these people never watch or read. Nobody has the right to dictate terms on any1. Be it Islam, hinduism or a christianity, none of the religion will encourge violence or immorality. But what you guys are doing is nothing ear to humanity. Imagin a situation where a lady might e having some problem in getting back home. Aguy of othr community offers a helping hand to tkeher back home. What next?? One of the brainless member will se that and informs his spider network. Al other morons join an go and belt them black and blue without even knowng the truth.

Why all these fuss about valentine day celebration?East or West Indian culture is the best?I do agree but why if so you wear pant which is western culture, why you drink foreign made alcohol which is western culture. Now I have been observing without liquor is being served in any of the functions it is not called as celebrations/festivals.Why?This is not western culture?During engagement, reception,Mehendi even for final rites(Rituals)of dead person serving liquor has become a fashion.Forget about that even those so called BD,Ramsene,HJV wearing saffron dress with long Naama can not deliver the messages of their respective Boss without drinking liquor. This is called Indian culture?.All the pseudos don't try to become heros overnight
by becoming an opportunist.Focus on some constructive works,do some good job to the society, focus on some welfare works of the society rather than wasting your precious time which our Almighty God has bestowed on all of us on unproductive activities. If you do some good works definitely people will recognize you, appreciate you and moreover love you. This four letter LOVE is the root cause of everything like affection, harmony, love, peace etc.Don't breed hatredness amongst humanity.Human life is very precious and human being is very sacred, intelligent animal amongst animal kingdom.Clean your heart by removing your ego, selfishness and anger.Sow the seed of Love, affection in everybody's heart and mind.Jai Ho.Om Namah shivaya.Om shanti, shanti, shantihi.loka samasthe sukhino bavanthu.

Krishna, I do not have a daughter, but had a sister who passed away some time ago. Her's was a love marriage after may years of courting. I have cousins who married their boy friends and are happily settled all by God's grace. Before marriage while they were dating all of them would go out during occasions like Valentine's day, May ball, Christmas, New year ball etc and nobody objected because we knew the boyfriends well as sincere individuals. A girl or a boy should be able to judge the person with whom they are going to form a relationship and then be sincere about it. Therefore do not put everyone in the same bracket. Your comments therefore are silly and not mine. I am only saying that you or anybody else for that matter have no business to interfere in someone else's life. The youngsters have their parents and guardians to handle that issue. You please try to look after your daughter and don't venture to lecture other people on what is right or wrong for them.Your comments therefore surely seem like a case of sour grapes. Maybe you are jealous of what you missed as a youngster.

This is an insult to a democracy and to the people who have fought for freedom. No organization has any buisness opposing any function which is allowed by the constitution of India. Every citizen has a fundamental right to celebrate any event as long as it is not illegal. if there is any ilegal activity going on, then only the police have a constitutional authority to intervene. All other self appointed vigilantes can at the most only give reliable information to the police but they CANNOT TRESPASS any function without invitation as that is itself a crime, punishable by law of the land. And if someone is so stupid not to understand this, they can see what injustice taliban is doing after it became powerful, and get an idea

Valentines day can be celebrated by the married and engaged couples. Love outside marriage is not a crime but surely a sin as taught to us by devine books like Geetha, Bible, Quran and the like...Love beyond its legal boundaries is harmful to any civilized society. it brings about damage and harm and doesnt bring in any prosperity or peace. On a time bound temporary scale, this illegal sinned love can bring contentment and gratificaion... but true love cant be displayed in parks, pubs and streets..First of all lets boycot the manufacturers of greetings cards who seek to promote their business by inventing day by day a new occassion like valentines day, fathers day, mothers day, sons day, kissing day, dogs day, cats day, hens day, donkeys day.. like jewellers are seeking to promote their business by making and promoting akshaya thrathiya as great day to buy jewels...In the past people have built house and lived there peacefully without knowing what vastu is. But later these purohit community wanted their business to prosper and invented and promoted vastu... now their business is smooth..Duniya jhukti hai magar jhukanewala chahiye..This is what we call fooling the public for self interest....I dont have to say only on Feb 14, that I love my wife.. I have 24x7x365 days with me to express my love to my wife and i dont need a place or card... God has given me my house...I thank God for his favours He gave me and I am thankful to Him for giving me a good, loving and caring wife..Why dont we send a card to God..through...these card promoters... thanking God for His favours...They cant fool God but surely they can fool people like you and me.. Disgusting and irrational and unreasonable...

Saree could be worn in a sexy way and short-pant in a decent way. Rakshabandhan or Valentain's day both could be good or bad. It is not Indian culture or Western Culture. What requiered is a society, a nation, a world filled with good cultured human beings.

Bajrang Dal does not have anything better to do rather than oppose anything which they cannot do. Due to their outlook, demeneur and the goond looks, added to their illitracy no one will offer to be friends with them leave alone associated with them in a romantic manner. This riles them and they tend to create such controversies. What do they know about the origin of Valentine's Day. It is the day to commemorate St. Valentine, who opposed the rule of the king who did not want the people to marry as he wanted them to be enroled in the army and feared that once they got married they would not be faithful to the royal throne. This was the fundamentalist attitude of the king which opposed the sacrement of marriage and procreation resulting thereof. Hence St. Valentine helped the people to oppose this ruling of the king for which he suffered and died. To commemorate his selfless service to the community especially the young, his feast is celebrated and the day is dedicated to love. It can be parental, teen, married or family or friends. These so called guardians of morality see immorality in everything else except their own actions. When they drink, molest girls isn't that immoral? In the pretext of playing Holi how many girls get molested, raped and kidnapped. then why these people do not ban or act against it? Well use your brain and braun for the right causes and not waste on such trivial things just to be on limelight and gain publicity.

All people talking about western culture, are doing so wearing Levis jeans and polo t shirts. Dear bosses, stop your ego, and start thinking using your commonsense, if you have any. First of all our country heavily relies on import of oil, food grains, weapons and many many other things from western countries & Middle Eastern countries. The vehicles we drive all have some connection or history with the west. Guys first we have to become self reliant and then talk about western culture. Now tell me what culture are you talking about? What is left of our Indian culture because of people like you. You have raped our culture to the core. WHY DO YOU GUYS CELEBRATE YOUR BIRTHDAYS WITH A CAKE. ITS A WESTERN DISH!!!! You are all obsessed. We drink whisky, rum, gin, vodka, beer etc etc, which gives you a high and makes you doo all sorts of nonsense, guys its western too. Ours is gonkudha country. People we are all Indians. Why cant you understand, is our unity only when another Kargil happens?
And to my dear brother Jeevan, I am sure you got to learn a lot. Have a great day all of you.

Just note, you cannot share same type of love to everyone,
Fiancés love is different than the Martyrs love or mother, sisters love, so do not mix each other, if you feel “LOVE” is western culture don’t celebrate and do not interfere in someone personal business.

@nirmal, mangalore-I fully agree with you sir.Every person has his/her own perception, thinking, likings and dislikings.Without hurting anybody's faith, sentiments, creating nuisance to public peace, religion etc I think nothing wrong in celebrating the occasion and share their love each other.May be their fiance, fiancee, mother, father, brother, sister, uncle, aunty, cousins and so on.Under the circumstances
Why the people are against the celebration of Valentine's day that too objection especially come from BD,Rama Sene, other fanatic outfits. In the first place who are they to dictate the administration or threat/warn public? When something more than this happens like rape, murder, drug menace etc these pseudos go for hiding and hibernate. Is there any meaning in their threat or do they have any knowledge about their own dharma/religion?.By wearing saffron cloth with one long Naama on their forehead and disturbing the public peace do they think that they achieved a great.Have they ever tried to check out what is going on at their own houses?. Of course it a lover's day.As mr.Nirmal said Love does not mean this celebration only limited to the fiance and fiancies. Why people are against love and creating the hatred? Love that binds the entire human kind. And the same love bound Fr. Valentine, centuries past by risking his own life and given the meaningful way. This love should grow in our society no matter of which cast and creed, which will bring the peace and harmoney arround us.Does any dharma preaches anything bad to the society. It always preaches good to the human being.Do any one of these goons I must say know the difference between good and bad? From where these hatred people rise from? What good things they have done to the society other than creating this kind of nuisance?Inocent/jobless people are being hired by some powerful people for their selfish and meaningles purpose.Just for gaining mileage/publicity for wrong reason.Otherwise they will not be made known to the public.

Culture is not forced it is something we practice.. if Valentine day has come into culture it is because people have adapted it. If Bajrang Dal people don't like it, then people belonging to BD shouldn't celebrate it. If others like the idea of Valentines day, BD has no business. If our district administration and police becomes a toy in the hand of BD, it is indeed a sad day in our country.

Because there are people who do not like "Holi", or for that matter "Rakhi day". However we have choices and the choices should be left alone to individuals!

Why the people are against the celebration of Valentine's day. Ofcourse it a lover's day. It does not mean this celebration only limited to the fiance and fiancies. You love your mother, sister, aunt, cousins so on. Why people are against love and embrasing the hatred. Love that binds the entire human kind. And the same love bound Fr. Valentine, centuries past by risking his own life and given the meaningful way. There is no meaning in just offering a Red Rose and forget the day. This love should grow in our society no matter of cast and creed, which will bring the peace and harmoney arround us.Earlier it was Rama sene, now it is Bajranga Dal. Shri Ram did everything good to the human kind and so do the shree Hunuman if one see their life story. From where these hatred people rise from? Many readers commented to arrest these BD members and to take strict action against them. If police is keen to take action, they would have done this long back. One cannot expect this to happen in BJP rule!
DK police in BJP rule is acting as an extended arm of the communal elements as they always retain the victims rather arresting the culprits in cases of moral policing.. The police are always hesitant to act lest it hurt the interests of their political bosses.
To maintain peace and harmony the fore most things we have to do is to vote for a secular government. Even congress is not secular, though they blow trumpet of secularism.

THEY ARE TOTALLY IMMORAL AND CORRUPT. I CALL UPON ALL CIVILIZED MANGALOREANS TO OFFER TOUGH RESISTANCE TO BD AND RS AND NOT TO FALL VICTIMS TO THEIR MASTERPLAN.

It is shameful situation when someone is challenging the law of our country and our police force is sleeping on this issue. Instead of arresting these people, they will now be harassing some innocent people.

    Dear Wise people of Mangalore,
If these Bajrangis are challenging our Administration and running a parallel admnistration then WHY should we pay our taxes???

This government in the past 5 years has lent tacit support to these hooligans to only protect their political interest. As a result peace, progress and our rich coastal culture has taken a hit.

We live in a free democratic society where in all citizens as per our constitution have the right to speak, express or celebrate. Then why are we supporting such uneducated, uncultured, uncivilized ULTRA RIGHT WING RADICAL organizations????

Its time we citizens put an end to this 'Hitler' attitude of BD, Senas, Vedikes and ensure that Mangalore-Udupi-North Canara region will prosper under a pro- people and progressive regime.

    PEACE!!!

It is a license to molest girls. The license is given to these goons by the state government of Karnataka whose members are famous for spending their time watching X rated film clips inside the Vidhana Sabha.

    Dear BD,
Just because u'll dont have ur girlfriends or wives it does not mean that u'll envy those who have. Why dont u'll mind ur own business than interfering in others life. The very fact that u'll find faults with all shows that u'll dont have a better work to do. I know that boredom is boring but just because u'll do not know how to have fun dont spoil the fun of others.

As BD said District administration will be solely responsible for unsavoury incidents if any, means BD is going to attack if they saw any couples\lovers in public places & Bars. These goondas challenging the dist administration. My humble request to dist admin that arrest all Bajarangis for a day and Ban these organisation to mainatin Peace & Harmony.
Please don't think that I am the supporter of Valentine day but here I condem the moral policing of BD.By attacking the youths BD is not going to solve the problem they are creating problem in society. Only solution need educate the youths about our great Indian culture.

We, the public, urge district administration of DK/Udupi to arrest all BD/RS/HJV goons with immediate effect for preventive purpose in police law book. These militant outfits in fact, a curse to civilized society. As assured by CM of Karnataka in the floor of the HOUSE yesterday, law enforcing agency bound to act and if invoked GOONDA ACT for this rubbish/foolish activities , we society @ large will appreciate the actions of the GOVT.

Did we just read that Shettar has promised STERN action against Moral Policing?

What we read in the media about administrative decisions, never comes down in written form to the administrative offices, else they would take action.

What exactly do we call the state of affairs in this state?

Did we elect this kind of government?

Are we paying the salary of this administration through taxes?

Is there any room for a person to live peacefully?

Valentine's day is nothing much to me, but the goonda raj is too much to bear.

Is this really a democratic country anymore? no music, no dance, no jeans, no t-shirts, no mobiles, no movies, no t-shirts, no friendships.. sounds somewhat like Taliban ruled Afghanistan - far away from the Ramraj.

What hurts to these BD people if other willing people celebrate this? They do not have heart and soul to love others? Thats why they oppose to this celebration. They yet again showed that they are jobless and have plenty of time to intevene in others business. District administration failed in curbing these goons activities or else they may also part and partial of these activities.
