Mangalore: 25th Kevin Misquith and Milestone Nite draws huge response

Mangalore, Feb 11: Konkani music lovers had a gala time on Sunday February 10 with young star of Konkani music Kevin Misquith and Milestone band presenting the 25th musical nite at St Agnes Special School Grounds.
Clad in dark silver suit, emerging from the rear screen, Kevin Misquith made a grand entry to the live concert, amidst rousing applause from thousands of music fans who had gathered to witness the show. The venue was filled to capacity, with many having to stand throughout. Song after song they cheered and danced along, building up a festive atmosphere.
High voltage performances by young and energetic artistes completely floored the crowd. The different genres of music added much variety. Complementing Kevin and Milestone was young singer Munita Veigas and several
other young and prolific performers.
Songs like 'Mujya Aanja', 'Kedna Kedna, 'Kalza Thaar', 'Kan Kan', 'Thuka Chint Chinthana', 'Abole' and many others kept the crowd dancing and singing along.
There was a short stage programme held midway through the concert. Addressing the gathering, Konkani poet Melvyn Rodrigues said, “Constant hard work and dedication to music has enabled Kevin Misquith to reach this height. He has nurtured his ambition and aspiration to grow in the field of music."
Melvyn also congratulated Kevin for having successfully presented the 25th musical nite at a young age. “Over the years, I have closely watched Kevin's progress. Though Kevin himself is a lyricist, he had the humility to give music to the lyrics composed by other writers. Secondly, Kevin has a Konkani vision is his composition and moreover, his works are not just limited to Mangalore and Udupi districts but have reached people across the world," Melvyn said.
Marian D’Souza said, “There is a need to bring revolution in the Konkani music world. Importance should also be given to classical and patriotic music in Konkani songs. Such change is necessary."
Vicar var Fr Stany Goveas, Fr Ronald D’Souza, ICYM director, Dr Sunil, Rohan Monteiro, MD, Property Infratech, and Loy Noronha shared the dais.
'Pokri Kalakar' team added a generous dose of humour to the evening, while dance performances by the Nach Sobhann troupe accompanied the songs. Sheldon Crasta and Vernon D’souza compered the event. Antony Cony and family, Doha Qatar was the main sponsor.
