Mangalore: Malaika Group opens electronic retail showroom in city

Mangalore, Feb 9: Malaika multi-brand electronic retail showroom and Malaika Multi-state Co-operative Credit Society Ltd were inaugurated at Mangala Complex, Balmatta Road, Hampankatta here on Saturday February 9.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated the Malaika multi brand electronic retail showroom, while mayor Gulzar Banu inaugurated the credit society. Fr Valerian D’Souza blessed the premises.

MLA U T Khader and Roy Castelino, president of Konkani Prasar Abhiyaan were the guests of honor.

The inaugural ceremony was followed by a stage programme where Gilbert Baptist, chairman of Malaika Group, Marceline G Baptist, director and Felix Veigas, senior manager shared the dais along with the dignitaries.

Gilbert Baptist in his welcome address said the inauguration of the new store is another milestone for the Group. "Our aim is to open 100 retail stores across the country in the next 5 years. So far we have opened 25 outlets.

"We at Malaika always give priority to the welfare of the staff and are committed to give our customers good quality and service at affordable cost," he added.

Naleen Kumar Kateel said the new store of Malaika Group has added charm to the growing city of Mangalore and wished that it would grow to greater heights. "We should be proud of Baptist who has contributed to his hometown by opening stores in Mangalore and Bantwal," he said.

"May he open several more stores and provide employment opportunities to many. Baptist is an inspiration for budding entrepreneurs," he said.

Mayor Gulzar Banu and Roy Castelino also spoke on the occasion and wished the Group good luck in its future endeavours.

B Ramachandra Rao compered while Lawrence Alvares delivered the vote of thanks.

Felix A D’Souza, Jagadish Shenava, Naveen Kulshekar, Gopal Krishna Kulshekar, Denis D’Silva, Sushil Noronha, Rons Bantwal, Ranganath C Kini, Sharan Pumpwell, Keshava Acharya, Robert Saldanha, Alphonse Rodrigues, William Rebello, Felix D’Souza, Lawrence Rodrigues, Suresh, Uday Heggde, Praveen Nayak, Cyprian Albuquque, John Mendonca among others were present.
