Crown Prince sits by roadside with 'lost' girl till dad arrives

Abu Dhabi, Jan 30 (Emirates 24/7): Abu Dhabi residents and motorists were greeted with a sight they are unlikely to see again.

General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, was sitting calmly by the side of the road.

However, that was just the beginning of the story.

In another incident that shows the great humility and love that the leaders of the UAE have for their people -  it transpires that Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed was driving in Abu Dhabi when he saw the girl outside a school looking around as though she was lost.

Sheikh Mohammed parked his car and went with his assistant to the girl, asking if she was lost and offering to drive to her home.

The little girl replied that her father was supposed to pick her up and she was waiting for him.

She then responded that she could not accept the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi’s offer to drive her home because her dad told her not to speak to strangers.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed’s assistant then told the little girl that this was no stranger and went on to introduce the Crown Prince.

The girl answered: Yes, I know, but my dad said not to go with any strangers.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed then smiled he decided to wait next to the girl till her father showed-up.

The picture here was taken by one of the school teachers.

The story first broke on a UAE Facebook page and the plaudits and comments began to flow in.

Comments left on the page included:

While Sherif Embabi added: Like son like father. God bless him and God bless UAE.

Emirates 24|7’s Facebook page was quickly filling up with admirers as well.

Tahir Afzal Khan wrote: “What a man. Love you Sir,” while Sufi Muhammad Junooni commented: “Respect to Sheikh Mohammad.”

Francis Fernandes commented: “God bless him!,” and Bilkisu Yaqha adds “That makes him a great leader.”

"Long live the Prince and may his tribe increase". If it was in India, we would have just passed by her or some rogue element would have surfaced from nowhere to take advantage. In today's scenerio We would have looked at a good samaritan with suspicion and perhaps handed him over to the cops for touching her inappropriately. Then my friends cool your heels in the dungeon.

Good hearted human being and gentleman Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan would make himself a good leader of great arab nation and roll model specially for people like those who raped innocent young girls in India. I always said, if another great leder of Sultanate of Oman HM Qaboos Bin Said ruled India, our country would have become one of the richest.

This great gesture brings back basic question, will it be a pipe dream for us to get such leaders who's crown idea is welfare of their citizen..however small they be!!!

In contrast, we have leaders who do not care to attend accident victims of their own vehicle.

May god give similar wisdom to our leaders.

God bless the good hearted prince. I am not at all surprised by this incident. The local people of UAE, in general, are hospitable and kind. I had experience of a prince coming to my aid. It was in the 70's, I was working for a bank in RAK. One day, I had to go to the HO of the bank in Dubai for a meeting, and was returning back to RAK, around noon. It was peak of summer, and the air outside was like a furnace. I was driving between Sharjah and RAK, when one the tyres of the car burst. I went to change the tyre, but I was struggling due to the heat, hot scorching asphalt road, and burning hot tyre rim. I was defeated and did not know what to do, when a caravan of cars came by. The lead car belonged to Prince of RAK, second in line of succession to Sheikh Saqr Al Qassimi. He stopped his car, and the whole caravan halted. The Prince personally removed the damaged tyre and fixed the spare for me. I was flabbergasted, never imagined a rulers son would help me, and that too, a foreigner and not a local. I had a similar incident, when my car got stuck in sand, but this time they were indians like me, but they did not come to assist me. About fellow Indians, less said the better.

This is not strange or unusual as the leaders of UAE are known for their humility and down to earth nature. This includes the Sheikh of dubai as well. Very often these leaders on their visit to the local people are seen sitting on the ground and talking to their people. Hope our Indian leaders are inspired with this. Good leaders are god’s gift to their country and UAE is one of them.
