Who will be the next PM? Survey reveals 48% favour Modi, 18% want Rahul

New Delhi, Jan 25 (DHNS): If Lok Sabha elections are held now, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will leave behind the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) by miles, an ABP News-Nielsen survey has said.

The survey conducted this month in 28 cities across the country says only 22 per cent of the respondents intend to vote for the UPA while a massive 39 per cent would vote for the NDA. According to a press release, last year’s ABP News-Nielsen survey too showed consistent growth by the BJP and the NDA.

The survey did not indicate the number of seats the two coalitions may win. Even on party front, 36 per cent respondents in the survey were intending to vote for the BJP, whereas only 18 per cent would vote for Sonia Gandhi-led Congress.

According to the survey, Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi has emerged as the most sought after candidate for the post of Prime Minister. He beats Congress leader Rahul Gandhi quite comfortably.

As many as 48 per cent respondents favoured Modi as prime minister while only 18 per cent wanted Rahul to take over the top post. Around 49 per cent say that they would vote for the BJP on the assumption that at the time of 2014 general elections Narendra Modi will lead BJP, the release added.

The survey, done across 28 cities with close to 9,000 respondents, was conducted before the appointment of Rahul Gandhi as the Congress vice president and Nitin Gadkari's resignation as the BJP president. Around 36 per cent of the respondents gave poor or very poor ratings to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Not Modi - Country will turn into safron totally. He is good for Gujrath, let him stay there. He is not a all India figure. Why not young Pilot, Scindia , Rahul. Yes they are youg blood and good.
Arun Jaitley - in wrong party.
Anthony is fine but he should change his dress code. Mumta, Jaya - no brains, not qualified.
Sushma Swaraj - No way, she should thank Sonia for saving her hair by not becoming PM. Shiela Dixit - good for nothing. Derek Obrien - good for Bournvita quizz. My God what a shame, where the good people have gone like Nehru, Shashtri, Indira, they had the charisma.

They send their money to swiss bank. Now no more chance, it is because we vote foolishly and you take victory for granted and start amassing poor people money. Ex President, the lone lady spent as much she can lavishly, so many crores ! No body objecting at all. Janata ka paise hai. She looks like mosquito face and sucks poor people's blood. Proper good President we require, no modi or bodi. No Rahul bachcha to fool us. All dramas are over now.

This survey is not at all correct. India has an electorate of 60 crores voters and only 9000 people have participated in this survey! Modi may be popular in Gujrath but not all over India. Modi has the Media power, Money power and Muscle power. In the long run he will be a total failure. Another 17 months for the elections and now there is a Lokayukth in Gujrath (before all these years there was none). Let us see what will happen! I am sure Congress with its allies will form the next Govt at the Centre. before 2004 and 2009 elections all media channels had predicted NDA victory and I was one among the millions who beleived the surveys that time. But the truth everyone knows. UPA came to power! No one had predicted that outcome! This time also surveys will be proved wrong by the voters. Long live our secular and democratic India.

Dead congress is far better than the Modi's living party. Modi has caused division in his own party. PM cap does not suit him to a non-secular cap.

Paid survey will remain as bribed Survey only, until Rahul Gandhi will stamp over it with authority.

Usually Ismail K. Perinje sets correct tone in the current affairs. Minority of them oppose him who assimilate Modi's cap non-secular citizens of fundamental entity, dam to fail against Secular India.

India is a democratic country and these surveys gives different views for different reasons.
After all educated India knows who is the "widely accepted leader" who can lead this nation taking in to confidence of all the "Urban-India" and "Rural-India" issues.

"There is no doubt that Mr. Narendra Modi is a seasoned regional leader".

In my personal opinion has he got the caliber and acceptance to govern India like the one who is doing at presently at Gujarat!!!.

Having been living in Ahmedabad, I've witnessed superb infrastructure even beating Mumbai or Navi Mumbai & Delhi / Gurgoan. He has projected Gujarat heavily in promoting the state to investors like Tatas, Reliance & Adani's to set up projects there. For evaluating NM' s popularity, there is no requirement of a survey. But fact is AB Nielson is a known MNC media survey agency. There are more than a lakh of Kannadiga's prospering in Gujarat, especially from DK, Udipi & Karwar areas in Surat, Rajkot etc...There is remittance from Gujarat into Karnataka & DK - This is truely happening.

Nobody knows which way the wind flow in 2014 elections but it is almost final that congress is pitching for Rahul Gandhi. In my opinion Rahul Gandhi may be the Prime minister if UPA gets its own majority or is very short of majority. But Narendra Modi will be the Prime mininster if and only if BJP itself gets its own majority or falls short of a very few manageable seats. If NDA gets majority the chances of Adwani Ji will be more bright then Modi, whatever the surveys may be telling today. There is always a difference in surveys and poll results.

Rahul gandhi whom congress is projecting for PM material has yet to prove his worth, if their plan is to appoint a hijada as PM adn run governance thru remote control the people of India will revolt. You know GUJARATH WILL SOON HAVE ASIA'S BIGGEST SOLAR PARK AND STATE SPONSORED SCHEME TO BUILD A BANKING AND FINANCIAL HUB WITH MORE OFFICE SPACE THAN THE FINANCIAL DISTRICTS OF PARIS ,TOKYO AND SHANGHAI!that means as I said earlier he is good enough to attract investors/businessmen by inducing more land and other infrastructural facilities in the cost of exchequer. Adhani group is main beneficiary and has truck with Modi about corruption in the later stage it will emerge. Why Modi not interested in appointing Lokayukta? He could not able to control Guj during riots so can he control India? What is his role in riots? is RAJADHARMA followed?(VAJAPAYEE ADVISED HIM) Messiah of BJP,LKA can't succeeded in occupying PM post then how could regional controversial leader take the center stage in BJP?You know Gadakeri was forced to retreat by LKA when RSS insisted him to take second time as BJP president!

Mr Ismael you need to accept the truth..Had they predicted Majority for congreess you would sing different tune...Truth is Majority of Indians want Narendra Modi as PM..you accept it or not..There are very few good leaders in Congress..Pranav Mukherjee could have been good PM candidate..but Sonia Gandhi wants a rubber stamp so she is using Manmohan Singh as stooge...Chidambaram is good his dis advantage is he has thin support base...Perhaps he wont retain his seat..Rahul still not ready enough to become P.M.

The magic number 273 decide the next PM and the not media survey.
At present scenario for NDA its very difficult to get that number from their alliances.
Also BJP leading NDA is not good for secular country like India.
We have what happened in Karnataka in last 4.5 years.

The trend can change with given any incident of national importance. Modi good for industrialist, investors and for certain extent ambitious media moguls.Certainly, TATA/AMBANIS will pour SOURCES for election. If we check other factor relating mass then his index will come down.He portrayed himself as Savior of Indian Culture but not able to increase tally than previous one.Under any circumstances Modi could will not be PM this great historical, world's largest living democracy. He has foes with in than outside and importantly from NDA constituent.Apart from that RAHUL GANDHI just named for the post(not officially and media guess)so going close to election 2014 to LS the entire scenarios will change taking non BJP and Non Congress regional parties upper hand to decide the fate of any given individual.

I hundred percent agree with you. It was paid survey by congress. Otherwise Rahul would have got ZERO Percent. But still after paying, he got only 18 percent. Now you can think about REAL SURVEY..

    In 2014 anything can happen!
People never vote for a candidate like Presidential polls where 2 contest.
Regional faces & local issues dominate when people vote.
NDA on its own will not win enough seats to come to power.
Regional parties & alliance will decide the Prime Ministerial candidate & party, than peoples choice.
Beware of PAID news & Surveys which try to project & create a situation where a party that paid for it will be projected as winner.

"Around 36 per cent of the respondents gave poor or very poor ratings to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh" - Survey.

Remaining 64 percent would have opted ZERO.
(Assuming scale had EXCELLENT, ACHIEVED, SATISFACTORY, POOR, VERY POOR, ZERO)
