Marathi Film Producer Held for Raping Struggling Actress

Mumbai, Jan 16 (Mid-day) : A 49-year-old Marathi film producer was arrested yesterday evening for allegedly raping a struggling actress.

According to Oshiwara Police, the accused Ramesh Singh is a resident of Kandivli (East) and had promised a 33-year-old woman a lead role in his upcoming film.

Ramesh Singh had lured the actress to Dahisar and raped her. Singh was arrested by the Oshiwara police yesterday

The woman, a native of Pune, stays alone in Goregaon and had met Singh through a model co-ordinator. On Saturday afternoon, Singh called the woman to a mall in Oshiwara. They had lunch together and the accused told the victim that he wanted to finalise her contract and give her the signing amount.

He added that the financer was in Dahisar and he promised to drop her back after the deal was done. “Singh allegedly raped the woman after taking her to a guest house in Dahisar,” said PSI Vijayanand Patil, Oshiwara police station. The victim, who was threatened with dire consequences if she complained, left from the guesthouse and went back to her apartment. On Sunday she called her parents in Pune and told them what had transpired the day before.

Her parents guided her to lodge a complaint at the nearest police station. Overcoming her fear, she approached the Aarey Milk Colony police station on Monday to register her complaint against Singh. The case was transferred to Oshiwara police station as Singh had picked up the woman from the area. Yesterday, the officers from the Oshiwara police station arrested Singh from his house. He will be produced before the court today.

@ k. Fernandes , mangalore . I strongly suggest you watch 'Aitraaz' . Medical examination can prove 'physical' , but can it accurately distinguish conesnual and non consensual?!. Law takes women words as gospel , if she retrieves after a healthy relationship as forced ?! , how a medical grounds can be taken in account?. Series of events before the actual happening depicts she was very much with producer willingly and volunteerily she went to bunglow with him. But anyhow , if producer realy forced her , he has to be prisoned otherwise women also have to be given imprisonment for false case accusation. Thats what my point......

ajs/saudi,joy/udupi,roshan branaza/Mumbai- what made you to write is false rape accusation? Are you people are friend of Singh. Let police/court to investigate the issue or simple as that medical examination of the victim. Pls don't pass your b...sit comments and mentally torturer the victim. As per the statics in India each minute there is rape and hardly 25% are daring to lodge the complaint. Because of the sick minded people (Like now commented) victim afraid to lodge complaint. That is why the rapists are so boldly act

Most likely its a case of false rape accusation ( FRA ). Woman reached guests house volantarily and then complained 'rape'. Very illogical and fishy. These women can go to any extent to get film contracts and at the same time make false accusation , if the contrancts gets shelved. I hope producer also goes to court against this women , i wonder which charges he can use. Also its high time false rape cases also should be made punishable , may be even death , as its not less than any crime.

These animals should not see sun light in their lives one more time. How many such stories are appearing in the news papers every day? Public punishment must be established to stop this violent epidemic in India.
