Bangalore, Jan 7: The two rounds of National Pulse Police Programme will be held in Karnataka on January 20 and February 24.

The pulse polio programme is aimed at covering all children below 5 years throughout the country as part of  the national programme to eradicate polio.

In a note circulated at the State level steering committee meeting presided by Chief Secretary S V Ranganath on Monday, the State Government has stated that the first day of the campaign is the booth activity followed by house to house activity for the next two days in rural areas of southern districts and for three days in rural areas of north Karnataka and in all urban areas of the State.

Karnataka has made arrangement to establish as many as 31,000 polio booths throughout the State for covering over 75 lakh children below the age of 5. As many as 95 lakhs of polio doses have been arranged.

The last case of polio in the State was reported from Yeshwanthpur areas in Bangalore in November, 2007, in a group of migrants from Uttar Pradesh.

Karnataka’s Health and Family Welfare Department Principal Secretary M Madan Gopal and officials of the Bangalore City Corporation attended the meeting.
