Mangalore: 'Divine Word' TV Channel to be Launched on December 22

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (VM)

Mangalore, Dec 16: Divine Word, the first Catholic Religious 24x7 channel and website www.divineword.in of Mangalore and Udupi diocese will be inaugurated at Milagres Church premises on December 22.

Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore will inaugurate the channel and the website.

The main aim of the channel is to reach out to all Christians under one forum and to build a Christ-centered multicultural community with love, peace and justice.

Along with telecasting programmes like Holy Mass, Word of God, Novena, Catholic activities, news, Bible stories, youth programmes, adoration, church choir, Faith band and retreat, the channel will also promote charitable activities such as aiding the needy, education of poor children, providing medical assistance, shelter for the aged and the homeless and so on.

The channel is the brainchild of Stephen Mendes. Other than excelling in the field of education as chairman of Western Institute of Technology, he is also a partner in V4 Media and chairman of Mendes constructions.

Speaking on his latest venture, he said the new channel would act as a voice of all Christians. "It is also an opportunity for those who cannot visit the church to listen to the word of god. I am sure I can take this channel ahead with the help of religious heads and the Christian community," he said.

Commenting on the aim of the channel, he said it is not meant for entertainment. "I do not expect any return from this channel, instead I want to spread the word of god," he said.

Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza also expressed his happiness over taking such an intiative and said, "The channel will be a medium to spread god’s message. Just as all other religions make use of electronic media to spread their religion, Divine Word will be especially meant for Christians. Hence we should make optimum use of this benefit," said the Bishop.

He asked people to make use of the channel whenever they were free and thus be close to god.

"The channel will also introduce our religion to others and will be useful to unite with other communities, he added, lauding the initiative of Stephen Mendes and wished him good luck in his endeavour.

Divine Word managing committee

The Divine Word managing committee members consist of Walter Stephen Mendes as president, David Frank Fernandes as vice-president, Florence Mendes as honorary secretary and Magdalene Mendes, Ivan Johnson Mendes, Arun Mendes, Lionel Noronha, and William Rebello as directors.

Hearty congrtulations and prayers for the "Divine word T.V. channel".
As the humanity has departed far away from divine issues to the material world, we are faced with far more greater social problems and crimies every day. May GOD richly bless this programme to touch the lives of thousnds of people every day. The first challending statement to the devil which Jesus has proclaimed after 40 days of HIS fasting was
" It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of GOD". Mathew 4:4. Luke 4:4. Bible.

While congratulating the Committee members 'Divine Word' TV Channel, first of all, hope the committee members will be role model to the society and live as per the teaching of the Lord. I do agree every human being has weakness and limitations.

A word of cautious to all believers. Any of those preachers who preach tithes or donations/money, be careful as well as any Commercial transactions. Be wise. Look around, one will find many false preachers too.

Word of God is freely received and it to be shares freely. While spreading Word of God, there is no competition. ONLY THOSE WHO ARE CALLED will be able to sow good seed and reap good crop.
