Udupi: No Religion Preaches Terrorism – Sri Sugunendratirtha Swamiji

Media Release

Udupi, Dec 9: A book titled ‘Islam Bhayotpadaneya Dharmavalla’ (Islam is not a religion of terrorism) brought out by Shanti Prakashana was released at the city Town Hall, here on Friday December 7, at 6:30 pm.

This is a Kannada translation of the Hindi book, “Islam - Aatank Ya Adarsh” authored by Swami Lakshmi Shankaracharya. A symposium on “Bhaya Mattu Bhramegala Madhye Prasaktha Samaaja” (present society amidst fear and illusions) was also held on the occasion.

Sri Sugunendratirtha Swamiji of Puttige Math released the book and inaugurated the seminar.

Speaking on the occasion, Sri Sugunendratirtha Swamiji said that religion and the religious priests are being used for selfish reasons. They are taking advantage in the name of God in an organized way. Communal flare up or disharmony is being created by some priests sowing seeds of hatred.

“No religion preaches terrorism - such religion cannot be religion at all. Religion has the role to uphold the righteous deeds. But never ever uphold terrorism. Hence, never can Terrorism be an edifice of any religion”, he said.

“Those politicians who fragment the nation and barter the country for selfish ends themselves are the real terrorists. They are more dangerous than any other terrorists. Politicians don't want to unite people of all faith. They introduce chasm or divide between people, with vested interests”, he added.

“It is not fair to blame the entire community over some individual doing wrong. There are villains in every religion; they don't have any religion as such. We can cement relations between religions when we get to know each other very well and live in harmony”, Swamiji said.

Jamaat e Islami Hind State Advisory Committee member Akbar Ali spoke about “Bhaya Mathu Bhramegala Madhye Prasaktha Samaja” (present society amidst fear and illusions) in the symposium held on the occasion. Mohammed Kunhi, Convener of Shanthi Prakashana presided over the programme.

Gananath Yekkar, head of the postgraduate department of kannada at the Government College, Dr Nerry Carnelio, principal of Milagres College, K M Ashraf translator of the book, Abdusalam Uppinangadi, K.M.Sharif were also present.

Moulana Abdul Rasheed Nadwi Malpe recited verses from the Quran.

Idrees Hoode welcomed the gathering. Programme convener Mahammed Marakada delivered the vote of thanks. Mubeen Manipal compered the programme.

Well said Swamiji I wish your book every success, but I have some questions and recommendations based on what you said:

Quote "Sri Sugunendratirtha Swamiji said that religion and the religious priests are being used for selfish reasons. They are taking advantage in the name of God in an organized way. Communal flare up or disharmony is being created by some priests sowing seeds of hatred"

It is apparent that you know who these priest are, so kindly tip the police and the concerned authorities and get them arrested and thrown behind bars, and from now on there will be no more Communal flare ups or disharmony in India.

Quote “Those politicians who fragment the nation and barter the country for selfish ends themselves are the real terrorists. They are more dangerous than any other terrorists. Politicians don't want to unite people of all faith. They introduce chasm or divide between people, with vested interests”, he added.

Terrorist? But such derogatory term is not used for Mohammad Ali Jinnah the man who lead the partition of India? In Islamic Pakistan he is called Quaid-e-Azam (Great Leader). Am I reading something wrong here.

Quote “It is not fair to blame the entire community over some individual doing wrong. There are villains in every religion they don't have any religion as such. We can cement relations between religions when we get to know each other very well and live in harmony”, Swamiji said.

We very badly need comunal harmony in Kashmir. Hence, could you kindly schedule one or more news conference there, invite all the local leaders to join you on stage, and side line all those villians. Please make sure everyone gets copies of your book and by that we will get to know each other and cement a great Hindu/Muslim unity.

If you survive, then maybe we could tweak and massage your book a bit to solve the Palestinian Israeli conflict and several other conflicts all over the world. This will gurantee you the Nobel Peace Prize.

You are right sir, The politicians who barter the country for their selfish needs are the real TERRORISTS .As observed by Justice Markanday Katju in another article , communal riot can be started by spending Rs 20,000 on the idiots and this has been confirmed by THE GREAT PRAMOD MUTALIK in earlier statements
