Mangalore, Nov 22: “The central government has okayed the proposal of medical council to the usage of allopathic medicines in Ayurvedic treatment during emergency cases. This was a much needed notification and will be done in two weeks”, said Vaidya Vedaprakash Tyagi, president of Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM).
 
He was the chief guest at the valedictory program of decennial celebration of Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Ashoknagar, Mangalore held at Town Hall on Wednesday November 21.

He said that Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, Allopathy should go together in order to have a healthy society. He stated that new syllabus which are planned to be introduced for Ayurveda students will be simplified and also cautioned of some Ayurvedic colleges facing the threat of being de-regularized due to inadequate facilities being provided in such colleges. Few such colleges are also from Karnataka, he said.
 
Another guest Dr Jayaprakash Narayan, president of Ayurveda Academy Bangalore said that Ayurvedic doctors will have overcome inferiority complex which is evident. By practicing original classics of Ayurveda, Ayurvedists can be confident of their treatment and said that Ayurveda is for maintaining the health of healthy people. There is great demand for Ayurvedic doctors, he said.
 
Dr Jeevaraj Sorake, secretary, KECT, Mangalore presided. Dr Attavar Muralidar, principal of the college was present.
