Mangalore, Nov 13: The Karavali Sangharsha Samiti staged a protest against the state government for the arrest of TV journalist Naveen Soorinje near the DC office in the city.

U T Khader, addressing the gathering, said, "Let the police prove that Naveen is guilty in the case. They intentionally fixed his name in the case. Unfortunately, we still can find some miscreants roaming in the city but they are not still detained. The government is showing the fascist regime. The CM has failed in this matter. Even C T Ravi flayed and compared this attack to talibanization but he is still mum. C T Ravi failed to uphold the law."

Ramantha Rai, MLA, said, "This is a democracy and everyone has freedom of expression. The reporter went to report the event but he was framed. It is not fair in a democracy. Presently, in the coastal areas, some goons are trying to disrupt the communal harmony by placing the head of dead animals near religious monuments. The government should protect communal harmony in the state."

M G Hegde, JD(S) leader, said,"It is a plan to curb the freedom of expression of the society by the BJP government. They had a duty to protect the reporter but they failed."

M Sanjeeva, leader of CPI(M), B Madhava, leader of CPI, JR Lobo, Sushil Noranha, Gulzar Bhanu, Shashiraj Shetty, T K Sanjeeva Jayanthi Shetty and PY Mohan were present on the occasion.

Its long struggle ! However These atrocities by the police will not last. Law will take its own course and Shrimann Soorinje will be freed ! What is the crime after all ? Which IPC or CrPC? Such violence will result in better public awareness. Soorinje will suffer temporarily but his achievements will last longer. Increase the tempo guys and raise the slogans.

BJP ki jai ho. In many cases BJP has proved that it is a party with difference. According to BJP, goons are protectors of society, thieves are right & house owner is wrong. If you catch a thief you will be wrong. If it was not becuase of soorinje, the innocent girls would have been raped by the animals. The disgusting actions of these animals with innocent girls in Morning Mist incident even in front of Camera tells it all, what would have happened to these girls if news reporters were not present at the scene. BJP is a curse to Karnataka.

Journalist/Media are enlightening the society and are instrumental in freedom of expression guaranteed in democracy.
Curbing the freedom is very serious blow to democracy.
If not mass media, so many cases would have gone un- noticed, forgotten and finally would been hushed up.
Why Government is harsh on Journalism who helps them in maintaining law and order?
