Mangalore: Grand Finale of FMCON Silver Jubilee Celebrations on Nov 1

Mangalore, Oct 29: The grand finale of the silver jubilee celebrations of Father Muller College of Nursing will be held on Thursday November 1. The day will also mark the 102nd death anniversary of Fr Augustus Muller, the founder of the institution.

This was announced by Fr Denis D'Sa, administrator, FMCON at a press meet here on Monday October 29. Sr Winifred D’Souza, principal, FMCON, Victoria D’Almeida, vice-principal and Chanu Bhattacharya, professor, FMCON were present.

The celebration will start off with a thanksgiving Mass by bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the president of FMCI and Dr Bernard Moras, the Archbishop of Bangalore, at St Joseph Chapel, FMCI at 8 am.

The formal function will begin in the Academy Hall of FMCI campus at 10 am. Dr Bernard Moras and Sr Prof Gillbert FCC, president of Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI) will be the guests of honour. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza will preside over the function.

"To commemorate this event, a silver jubliee souvenir will be released by the chief guest during the finale. The stage programme will be followed by a short cultural event and a festal lunch," Fr Denis said.

Alumni who have achieved success in their field and occupy positions in various parts of the country will be felicitated on this occasion.

The silver jubliee year was inaugurated held on March13, 2011 by Dr S Ramananda Shetty, the then vice-chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Helath Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore.

During the year, a series of events were organized, including international, national and regional conferences, staff development programmes, alumnae meet, mega health expo, radio talks, television programmes, athletic events and so on.

The magnificent new College building was inaugurated on March 13, 2012 by Dr Sri Prakash, vice-chancellor of RGUHS, Bangalore.
