Mangalore, Oct 6: Congress national president Sonia Gandhi will visit the city to participate in the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district Congress convention to be held on October 18, informed former minister Janardhan Poojary.

Addressing a press meet at the district Congress office here on Saturday October 6, Poojary said that the convention will be held at Nehru Maidan and that Sonia Gandhi would be presiding over the valedictory programme.

Apart from the convention, Sonia Gandhi will also visit Kudroli Temple the same day and inaugurate the centenary celebrations of the Temple, he said. She will also be unveiling a special centenary plaque on the occasion.

The convention, aimed at strengthening the party and prepare for the next elections, will be organized under the baton of Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes. "More than 15,000 Congress leaders, ministers, members and party workers are expected to take part," he added.

Poojary further said that the time of the convention will be announced later, as it has not been decided yet because of security reasons.

Ivan D'Souza, Rohan Monteiro, U T Khader, Abhayachandra Jain, Ramanath Rai, J R Lobo and other Congress members were present.

After reading what you wrote here, I am very afraid, nervous to visit this Temple.
If what you said is right, only saints can visit this Temple, well.... I do not think there will be any visitors to this temple at all,
As for me , church is where I go to pray God almighty to forgive me for my misdeeds and grant me grace to do good unto others. I think it is so with any Temples of Hindus too.
Present days, I feel it is near impossible to find anyone "clean by heart, mind and soul"

Kudroli Sree Gokarnanath Temple is a great power center and one who visits it should atleast be clean by heart mind and soul.We have history about those VIPs visited with fanfare and aftermath effect.
Organosre therefore be cautious in drawing plans.

I do agree with you. However let me wish a Grand success to the Centenary Celebrations
of Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara Temple, irrespective of mixing religion with politics.
The temple was built in 1912 with the consecration of Shivalinga by the great saint Shree Narayana Guru . The Temple was renovated to the modern architectural look during 1988/1990 . Only the renovated temple was inaugurated by Rajiv Gandhi in 1990.
Precisely ,the first meeting was held on 10.4.1988 at 4.PM at the Registered office of the Billawara Association situated at Mohan Terrace, Mody Street, Fort, Mumbai to duscuss the specific agendum of the Temple Renovation and to form a Mumbai Committee to raise fund for the Renovation of the temple. The meeting was attended by abt 36 members under the leadership of Shri Jaya C Suvarna .That meeting was presided by me as the then Vice President of The Billawar Association Mumbai.

There after, there were series of meetings held in Goregaon and finally the potential Mumbai Committe was formed to raise fund for the renovation of the Temple. Yes, the Committe succeeded in collecting required funds.( Mr.Jaya C Suvarna, Mr.D.U.Salian. Mr.Y Nagesh and many others may vouch this success.) Rest is the HISTORY (and POLITICS apart ).

In the news papers and magazines good peoples name and bad peoples names also appears. Good and the bad differ with people’s perception. DAWOOD IBRAHIM IS NOT ELECTED BY THE PEOPLE OF INDIA. SONIAJI WAS ELECTED AND ED BY THE PEOPLE OF INDIA AND SHE CAN BECOME PRIME MINISTER AS AND WHEN SHE WISHES. DAWOOD IBRAHIM IS A FUGITIVE AND INTERPOL HAS ISSUED ARREST WARRANT. However Soniaji restored the shame of Shush Ma from balding her head and roaming. Majority of the Indians are supporting Sonia Gandhiji.

    Finally
    Sonia Gandhiji Amar rahe.
    Dr. Manmohan Singhji Amar rahe.
    Rahul Gandhiji Amar rahe.
    Jai Hind.

To the record, Mrs. Sonia Gandi is one of the several most influential personalities in the world.

Her mission of is to serve the nation. Had she been greedy for power, today she would have been the PM of the country. She plainly refuesed the post, giving way to the senior leaders in the party. How genorous she is!

Wish you good health and long life ahead, Soniaji.

What a great pleasure to note that Mrs. Sonia Gandhi will be visiting Mangalore on october 18, 2012 and will address the gathering at the Nehru Maidan.

I distinctly remember, when her grand-father in law, Pandit Nehru when he visited Mangalore and addressed the gathering at Nehru Maidan and the rostrum was installed at the same place where the cricket games are taking place at present.

The security arrangements in those days were very negligible, and the communication facility was also were primitive. No one exactly knew when Pundit Nehru was coming from the airport and where was he going to stop over and then finally end up at the Nehru Maidan. The commotion was so great, but the people in those days were calm and cool in nature and there was no room for any kind of terrorism.

The fleet of cars that led the limousine that carried Pundit Nehru was stuck at the junction of Government Arts College, and Pundit Nehru walked from that junction upto the Nehru Maidan to deliver the address. I happened to be there to see Pundit Nehru at a close distance. Punditji was a great personality of our time who has paved the way so broad and so long for all Indians to watch and admire, regardless of the party feelings.

I am proud to witness that leaders such as Ivan D'souza and Rohan Monteiro are taking keen interest in the Congress affairs. May God continue to bless them so that the Christian voices are heard loud and clear for the benefit of all the rest.

Dinesh this temple was made, so all, without any caste barrier, can enter freely and pray to god Lord Gokarnanatha (Lord Shiva).
This was prompted because upper caste considered Billavas as untouchables.
Stop saying from now on "upper caste" "lower caste" - all are one in the eyes of our Creator and so it should be with all of us.

I do not know how successful it will be with many as they themselves have that inferior complex!!!

Remember clearly Rajiv Gandhi had come in Feb 1991, to inaugurate
the renovated Kudroli temple and lay a Kalasha. Security around Rajiv was also not that strict at that time.He mixed freely with people. Rajiv was sadly assasinated 3 months later and some of his personal guards too laid down their life. One of them a very smart officer, Gupta, I think his name was had accompanied Rajiv to M'lore...How time flies.....
