Kasargod: NIA Team in Kanhangad to Investigate Counterfeit Currency Case

Kasargod, Sep 20: In connection to the Rs 30 lac counterfeit currency case which was brought to Kasargod from Dubai, the NIA (National Investigation Agency) team has now reached Kanhangad to investigate the initial reports here on Tuesday September 18.

The team headed by DYSP Abdul Karim has now reached Kanhangad and all the reports obtained by KV Venugopal, circle inspector has been handed over to the team, said S Surendran, district police head.

It may be recalled that the incident of counterfeit transactions came to light only after one of the accused purchased jewellery from the Malabar gold store in Kanhangad worth Rs 1.89 lac.

During investigation, the arrested revealed that a sum of Rs 30 lac of counterfeit currency was brought from Dubai.

Altogether four people were arrested in this case; they were Abdul Jabbar (39), KV Abdul Nasir (36), Chethan from Udupi (24) and Usman from Bantwal (32).

As the case has been handed over to the NIA team who are expected to soon nab the Dubai based mastermind Moideen Haji.
