Udupi: Lions Club Shirva Celebrates 102nd Birth Anniversary of Mother Teresa

Udupi, Aug 29: The Lions Club, Shirva-Manchakal organized “Mother Teresa Day” to commemorate the 102nd birth anniversary of the noblest apostle of peace of the 20th century here at Shirva on Monday August 27.

Professor M Balakrishna Shetty, Principal, S D P T College, Kateel was the main guest. He enlightened the gathering on the outstanding work done by Mother Teresa to bring hope into the lives of thousands of people suffering from physical pain, mental agony and socio-economic deprivation.

He congratulated the organizers and said that it was a fitting tribute to the humble Nobel laureate who preached the universal brotherhood of man.

Fr Stany Tauro appreciated the efforts of the Lions Club, Shirva-Manchakal for organizing a meaningful programme. Melwyn Aranha, president of Lions Club, Shirva-Manchakal presided over the programme.

District Governor MJF Madhusudhana Hegde appreciated Lions Club, Shirva-Manchakal for being the first club to organize the district programme.

Vice district governor PMJF Suresh Prabhu, Zone chair person Ronald Menezes, LCIF Co-ordinator MJF Lawrance D'Souza and district secretary MJF N M Hegde were present.

Melwyn Aranha welcomed the gathering while Norbert Machado compered. Ramananda Shettigar expressed his gratitude towards the gathering and the entire programme was efficiently organized by Wilson D’Souza.

The programme was followed by a theme oriented skit depicting the ideals of equality and harmony performed by the students of St Mary’s PG. Centre (MSW), Shirva.

    Wonderful job by Lions Club Shirva for organizing such a program on Mother Teresa on her 102 birth anniversary. Good initiative by the club to showcase the ideals of equality and harmony of Mother Teresa's life and spreading peace and harmony. Afterall Shirva is a peace loving place. Thank you for the report.
