Kundapur: Spurious 'Foreign' Liquor Seized, One Arrested

Kundapur, Jul 27: The excise department on Wednesday July 25 raided a house in Noojady and seized several bottles of spurious liquor.

Police also arrested Basava Ganiga, while the prime accused Girish Ganiga fled from the spot.

Sources said that locally made liquor was being prepared and packaged in bottles of expensive foreign brands, with their labels, caps and cartons. Fake labels, boxes, bottle caps and alcohol ingredients were seized by the excise department.

George Pinto, deputy commissioner of excise, Shubhada C Nayak, excise inspector, H Shankar Hemmady, sub inspector, Aravind, Baalakrishna Jogi, K Shankar, Raviraj Annigeri, Hanumanthappa, Prakash, Sathish headed by KC Haridas, excise joint commissioner of Mangalore were part of the investigation.
