Snow City: Now Experience Himalayas in Bangalore

Bangalore, June 21 (DHNS) : Now, you don’t need to go to the Himalayan range or the Swiss Alps to experience the numbing cold during a snowfall. You can instead visit Snow City, a snow theme park that has just opened in the heart of Bangalore near TV Tower in JC Nagar.

The park offers a slew of recreational activities. You can climb a snowy mountain, amuse yourself with snow sliding, or laugh to your heart’s content by hurling snowballs at others’ faces. Else, you can take part in snow zorbing. Not impressed? You can admire the beauty of the snow castle even as snow keeps falling.

The park has a 33-foot-high snow area spread over an expanse of 12,500 square feet. The entire area is filled with snow made of filtered drinking water and air, says Raja Jupudi, Vice-Chairman of the Hyderabad-based Vajra Group. The firm deals with tourism, entertainment and real estate, and Snow City is part of Fun World, an amusement park. Vajra Group has invested Rs 10 crore to Rs 15 crore on Snow City.

Temperature in the snow area is kept between -5 ºC and -10 ºC to ensure that it does not change to water to vapour. Snow machines pump 5,000 litres of filtered water which later becomes about 10 cubic feet of snow. Water thus pumped makes snow form by itself. No chemical is used in snow formation, Jupudi claimed.

In order to avoid body shock, visitors are taken through different temperatures. For example, the entry lounge has temperature between 18 and 24 ºC, and the air lock room between 5 ºC and 15 ºC.

“It enables the visitor’s body resist the shock of experiencing extreme temperature,” says Jupudi.  Visitors are provided overcoats with caps/hoods, hand gloves and boots.

The park is open from 10.30 am to 9.30 pm on all days. Every day, nine sessions of 45 minutes each will be conducted. The entry fee is Rs 390 per person per session on weekdays, and Rs 490 during weekends.

It was pretty exciting for me ... as it was my first sub zero temperature experience.

Nothing much in there, but sliding was cool.

Yes, it is not cheap 490/- on a holiday 50/- for a locker 50/- for socks 30/- for a glass of hot milk (optional)

I was surprised to see a 5 months baby, with her father in Bermuda. No wonder they left the cold room in 5 mins.

I saw few college girls in skirts... again were out in 10 mins.

You wouldn't want to waste 500/- bucks,... be dressed appropriately, for sub zero temperate, as they do not provide cold resisting pant.

Your observation is totally wrong. NRI's not bargaining people. Ready to buy at any cost during there holiday and make price hike in market. Reason behind price high of Fish/Meat/Chicken/Real Estate is due to these people. Ready to buy even pomfret fish 2 for 500. For us only 'podee-meene' gathi.

SNOW CITY, a good idea. People who have not seen snow or only in movies and pictures will really enjoy. the price seem to be a bit high for the common man but it is worth an experience. I and my family are from New York and in the beginning we enjoyed walking, playing and making snow balls and throwing at each other. It was fun. This 2011-2012 winter we hardly had any snow and we missed it. Bangalore city it is a good achievement and I am sure they will enjoy it.

India itself considered a God's Country. God has provided us each and everything at one place only. We do have snowfall in shimla/gulmarg/auli/naintal/arunachal pradesh/sikkim. Have good facility for even skiing. You enjoy over there we enjoy over here.
