Bangalore: Brave Girl Gets Police Pat for Helping to Catch Thief

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Apr 21: On Friday April 20 Bangalore police commissioner Jyothi Prakash Mirji honoured a woman for showing bravery when a thief entered her house and then handing him over to the police.

H S Jayashree who is in her mid-thirties, works for Kirloskar Bangalore and stays with her brothers at Nandini layout.

Last week when the brothers were away, she stayed alone at home as usual. At around 2 am, she noticed a thief entering her house by removing the tiles. But instead of getting scared, she assessed the situation, picked up a weapon and threatened to kill him if he got down! Simultaneously she called the nearest police station without the notice of the thief.

Perhaps, the thief knew very well that Jayashree would be staying alone that night and attempted to enter the house from the roof. But he definitely did not know the courage of the girl he was up against!

And to Jayashree's luck, police too reached the spot soon and arrested the thief red-handed.

"I have been brave right from childhood, never getting scared of such things. I get up early every day and leave for office by 5.30 am. I have saved police station's and other important numbers in my mobile, and that helped me to call the police instantly. The police too responded quickly and caught the thief before he could escape," said Jayashree.

Citing Jayashree's example, police commissioner Mirji has urged citizens to help police in catching such criminals.

Truly, Jayashree's bravery reminds one of 'Onake Obavva', the great woman of this land.

I do not still have confidence in our Police force.

The salary structure attracts only school outs and such type of people to the constable posts.

Their primary interest is to earn bribe and not to protect the people.

Unless this attitude changes and the force is modernised, the inefficiency continues.

In spite of paying huge taxes, we do not have an efficients Police force.

I visualise a Police force where any citizen in trouble anywhere in the country should get instant help and protection from the Police.

It really need's a lot of courage to do such a thing. It is good to save all the emergency number's, also its good to have number's of immediate neighbour's so that they can rush to the spot in emergency. A little alertness and some basic training not to Panic will help.
