Kundapur: Murder Attempt on Businessman - Accused Flees

Kundapur, Apr 12: An attempt to eliminate a well-known businessman was made at Halkal near Kollur in the taluk on Wednesday April 11. K K Nair, who owns farm houses in Halkal, however, escaped attempt on his life.

Nair was reportedly returning home after visiting Byndoor for some work, when a person named Srijit from Halkal fired at him from the gun he was holding, from a spot near the gate of Nair’s home, where he was hiding. Nair, who sensed the movements of the assailant, ducked and escaped from being hit. He also succeeded in catching hold of the gun Srijit was holding. The bullet fired from the gun hit the jeep.

Nair said Srijit immediately ran into the nearby forest, and escaped. The policemen, with whom a complaint was filed, arrived on the spot and launched a hunt for the accused. However, no motive could be attributed so far for the murder attempt.
