Mangalore: Exhibition of Designer Latha Puttanna's Creations on Mar 21

Media Release

Mangalore, Mar 20: Renowned Bangalore-based fashion designer Latha Puttanna will be presenting an exhibition of her works on Wednesday March 21 at Hotel Gold Finch here from 10 am to 7 pm.

The exhibition is being hosted in Mangalore by Veena Shetty and will feature a stunning collection of sarees, salwars, churidhars, ghagras in silk, raw silk, beneras tissue, silknet, georgette, chiffon and more.

Latha Puttanna is the creative energy behind the brand 'Shrishti'. Even without any formal education in design, her feel for colours and an eye for detail can be seen in every creation of hers. Shrishti was started fifteen years ago with Latha's passion for creating exclusive handmade garments for women. Her brand includes exquisite saris, blouses, kurthis, churidhars, salwars and indo-western wear in every hue of the rainbow.

It was her intuition and friends who goaded her to hold her first exhibition many years ago, and she has never looked back since. Latha has held numerous exhibitions in the US with much success, and in Bangalore, she holds three exhibitions annually. Latha does not have an outlet store that regularly stock her garments. She prefers to sell her exclusive collections through exhibitions held in various cities in India as well as London and US. Latha has a long list of faithful clientele all over the world, who eagerly awaits her exhibitions to buy her latest creations.

Her work is patronized by many celebrity clients and she has designed trousseaux for brides in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai as well as in the USA. She has done garments for Shakuntala and Dr Devi Shetty’s son’s weddings, as well as epical pieces for artistes like Sumalath Ambarish and Ashwini Puneet Raj Kumar, actors Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, Tabu, Vani Ganapathy and Jaya Zaveri.

Latha Puttanna believes in reviving Indian crafts and textile and does it using her unique design and colour sensibilities. She has been hand picked by the state to be the designer for Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation (KSIC), a 100-year old sari store which is synonymous with the popular coinage ‘Mysore Silk’.
