Udupi: International Rave Party - Youth Cong Questions Silence of Communal Groups

Report: Shubhalakshmi
Daijiworld Media Network –Udupi (RD)

Udupi, Feb 5: The members of youth Congress on Sunday February 5 staged a protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue at Malpe beach here, condemning what they termed 'obscene dances' at the 'Spring Zouk' International Festival in St Mary's Island here on Saturday February 4.

Addressing the protesters, Shyamala Bhandary, lawyer and women’s Congress leader, said that communal outfits such as RSS and Bajrang Dal were quick to protest whenever they come across a youth belonging to minority community talking or sharing an ice cream with a girl from the majority community, but none of them raised a finger over the obscene dances during the International Festival in St Mary’s Island on Saturday.

“The people who were supposed to project virtues of Indian culture to Western tourists, disregarded their responsibility. The women’s organizations have also been slow in their response in this regard. The elected representatives and chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda are also in favour of obscene dances. It’s a disgrace to the BJP-led state administration and deputy commissioner Dr Reju,” alleged Bhandary.

Former state minister Jayaprakash Hegde, KPCC secretary M A Gafoor, Block Congress Committee president Janardhan Bhandarkar, Amrut Shenoy, Alevoor Harish Kini, Ramesh Kanchan, Ganeshraj, and Abdul Aziz Hejamady were present on the occasion.

The international festival, organised by a Bangalore-based firm in collaboration with the district administration and the tourism department, has drawn much flak over the behaviour of some of the skimpily-clad foreign tourists, alleged use of intoxicating substances openly and other undesirable activities.

Guys! many may comment by seeing these pictures that there is nothing wrong in such parties. Thanks to dailijiworld for not publishing the real dirty picture in their website what really happened during this RAVE party. Daijiworld has maintained its media decency. More then these picture there is much more dirty things happened during this Rave party which is really shame not only to our Udupi district but also for entire INDIA. This might be the first time in Indian history which has happened really dirty and bought shame to our Indian culture.

You will come to know the reality only if you have seen other news channels like TV9, UDAYA News etc... they have shown it directly. This RAVE PARTY has bought real shame to INDIA. Now were are Bajrangdals, RSS community? are they sleeping??? Moreover its really surprising to listen from our karnataka CM that nothing has happened during this party. Shame to BJP as well, they are not able to control the RAVE party... Once BJP is in power in Karnataka either you can find religious violence or this kind of dirty things. BJP should really learn from congress to maintain the state and the culture.

For RSS,VHP,BD,Rama Sene and so minded useless groups, dancing inside the Pub is against the morality under BJP Govt. It is because they could not watch those fully dressed Wealthy Girls dancing inside closed surrounding. It is okay for these goons to watch ladies dancing semi nude in swim suit outfits in front of thousands including BJP MLA Mr.Bhat. Sadananda Gowda was enjoying the beauty of these dancers and Pramod Muthalik was probably peeping through Key Hole and enjoying. Shame to elected officials.

Mr.Damodara, you are right, but only 50%.Whenever such protests happen, it is out of sheer jealousy or because one party wants to malign the name of other party for votes. Today it is the turn of Congress to protest, tomorrow the B.D/S.R.S/V.H.P etc will protest similarly when some event is organised by the minority community or their opposition parties.Congress and B.J.P are the two faces of the same coin.

I have not seen a single local half naked in the entire island during these 3 days! Just making a issue out of nothing. 'Spring Zouk' was a success to say the least inspite of a few hiccups, being the first show.We must have many more such shows and admire talent.Kindly do not indulge in bad/unwanted/unnecessary propaganda.Infact alot of youth congress workers were present to watch the show.I myself saw many of them drinking chilled Kingfisher beer, smoking, chewing gutka and spitting on the virgin sands and dancing.Infact one youth congress guy was so intoxicated that he did not realise his white lungi had slipped off.His friend had to fetch it for him.The less said the better.

If RSS/BD interfiers into this matters also you will come with the comment stating that it's their personal choice. In this case since your secular party congress is protesting you are commenting in favour of them. Whereas protesting for each and everything as become part time job of your secular party congress now. Also dont worry after next assembly election protesting will become the full time job of your secular party congress.

Rave Parties involving drugs and the wandering Nationless Foreigners should not be entertained in the holy city Udupi. We should invite quality tourists & not these Hippies who sell drugs and themselves for a living. Udupi is a sensitive place with deep rooted Cultural heritage and thousands of young students in Manipal and Udupi. The Rave party should be stopped with immediate effect and the organizers should be arrested without bail for organizing an event involving drugs, prostitution, etc..

I agree that obscene dance in malpe beach is not acceptable. But who are these rogues to protest against this?

We all know that it was during S M Krishna's tenure, rave party took a shape in the state. When Bangarappa was CM, he allowed pubs in Bengaluru, now it has spread all over the state.

What these rogues are trying to say now? They are having Rahul Gandhis photo in the banner. Rahul gandhi is a rave party expert! Shame on them..

Just look at the crowd, hardly 30 people to support them. Every one knows the truth, who encouraged the rave parties in the state..

Dear congress leaders, by doing this kind of protest, you will not fetch any votes in the coming election.. Stop your dual attitude..

Given preference or my leaning, I could be Pro- Congress, but this agitation I personally find it silly or politically motivated.

Poeple go to the beach, have fun and have a small drink ( called Chota). What is wrong with that.Every HUMAN BEING does that whether White/Black or IN between! it's human nature. Done that not now, But 30 years ago in Kudla in the 70's-80's.

On one hand they want to advance tourism ( to make money-NO DOUBT), but on the other hand, they do not want to adapt to any CHANGES and KEEP UP to world standards. You have to be progressive/aggressive rather than banal/stupid, else would take us back to stone-age.
