Bangalore, Jan 20: Karnataka Examination Authority, in a release on Thursday January 19, announced that the Common Entrance Test (CET) for this academic year will be held on May 3 and 4. The time table for professional courses like medical, dental, Indian system of medicine and homoeopathy, engineering/technology courses was also released on the occasion.

Minister for higher education, Dr V S Acharya, said that a detailed notification about the examinations will be released during the second week of February.

It is learnt that this time around, the authority will only print the brochures with test information, and details of seat selection process will be published in its website in due course. While about 1.20 lac students are exepcted to appear for CET this year, the fee might remain unchanged. It is also gathered that for the first time, CET counselling in the state will be online this time.

From 10.30 to 11.50 on Thursday May 3, examination in biology subject will be conducted. This examination will be of 60 marks. On the same day, mathematics examination will be held between 2.30 pm and 3.50 pm. On Friday morning, physics examination will be held from 10.30 and 11.50, while chemistry will be the subject of examination that afternoon.

At 2 pm on May 5, Kannada language examination will be held for Kannadiga students from outside the state. Examination for this subject will also be held for border area Kannadigas at 4 pm the same day.

Sources revealed that in all probability, CET applications will be available with effect from the first week of February. These forms will be sent to colleges concerned, and fee for the examination should be remitted through banks alone, the authority clarified.

In the meantime, Comed-K said that PGET entrance examination will be conducted from 2.30 to 5.30 pm on February 12 at 27 centres across the city, instead of 10 am the same day. It said that it has received over 18,000 applications for this examination, and that adjustment in examination timing had to be made to suit administrative convenience.
