Bangalore: Failure in Love - Youth Jumps off Building as People Watch

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Nov 9: A youth attempted suicide here on Wednesday November 9, in full public view and right in front of policemen's eyes.

Javed Jafar (24) jumped off the terrace of a building on Museum Road in Cubbon Park police limits, reportedly because of failure in love. According to reports, he told the people gathered to bring his lady love to the spot if they wanted to see him alive, however, nobody knew who the girl was.

Police gathered at the spot, and one of them even went on to the terrace to dissuade him from jumping. But even as the policeman watched, Jafar took the plunge.

Though it did not cost him his life, Jafar was injured and immediately shifted to Mallya hospital in the city. The hospital authorities at first refused to admit him, but after talks with the police, finally agreed.

His condition is said to be critical and he has been kept under observation in the ICU, said the police.

Jafar is an engineering dropout, a native of Bihar residing in Austin Town. He was pursuing engineering at a private college in Bannerghatta. He is said to have been in love with a girl who was also studying in the same college. But the duo broke up and the girl is alleged to have turned down his marriage proposal. Since then, he was mentally unstable, said the Cubbon Park police.

On Tuesday, Jaffer had gone near the girl’s house in Fraser Town and created commotion near her house. Based on her parents' complaint, he was taken to custody by the Fraser Town police and was let off after a stern warning. After the incident, it is said that he did not return home, said the police.

On Wednesday morning around 8 am, he came to the Museum Terrace apartment and simply barged inside. When the security guard questioned him, Jaffer had told him that he was going on top of the building as he had got the contract to paint the entire building. From 8 am to 9.45 am, he created panic in the area. He was found dancing, walking, sitting on the edge of the terrace. He was also speaking in Hindi to himself and was shouting stating that he would jump off the building as his lover ditched him. The onlookers immediately reported the matter to the Cubbon Park police. The police who rushed to the spot also summoned the fire department personnel.

The fire department personnel tried to reach him by climbing the building. This attempt was made without his notice. When he finally saw the fire department personnel trying to reach him, he ran on the edge of the terrace and jumped down. The police who were at the ground floor holding a net were unable to protect him.

The Cubbon Park police has registered a case of attempt to suicide and are further investigating.

No religion will support to commit sucide & some people will always have a tendency to commit sucide at a stressful situation. It's a brave thing to live a happy life with in this big bad world. Youth should not get motivated by this guy, or else you will be called cowerd! 'Some people drink from the fountain of knowlege others just gurgle..

To Jen, M'lor If u leave your lover for any reason, is that a true love? People get many obstacles to love. It doesn't mean that leave your love and go. If girls have a habit of leaving their lover for any reason, then why they enter into love? Jafar did mistake by committing suicide. But, he proved his true love.

Mr SRK, it may be true that girls cheat guys most of the time but dont simply talk bullshit saying that they cheat for money or enjoyment. there r many other reasons also k. most of the time the parents of the girl r not happy with the boy so simply dont blame girls for everything. and just because a girl leaves u, its not necessary that u end ur life k.

Just think before Jump, Whether she or he really deserve the jump.
Who will take care, if become handicap. What about parents. Sucide or this kind action very easy to do but think what one will achieve. Nothing.... Only suffering to the loved ones.
Be brave and accept what ever comes your way......

We need Mass awareness for the Public so that they seek Psychiatric help in case of mental Disorders .The Social Stigma attached to it saying that that person visits a psychiatrist is MAD should go off .The parents of the Girl would have arranged for putting that Boy in Mental Hospital .Atleast on Precious Life would have been saved

Such cases need counselling instead of "stern warning" by the police. No normal person in his senses would jump from a building unless he is mentally disturbed.

The hospital refused to admit him!! These private hospitals are interested only in making money and also improving their success record. They are afraid to admit critical patients since if the patient dies then the mortality rate of the hospital will increase
