Told to Focus on Studies, Aspiring Singer Aditya Nadig Ends Life

Told to Focus on Studies, Aspiring Singer Aditya Nadig Ends Life

Bangalore, Nov 6 (Deccan Chronicle): He had everything going for him. Talented and popular, Aditya Nadig won many hearts singing on reality shows on television. But to the shock of his friends and family the 21-year-old committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan in his home at Ittamadu in Chennammanakere Acchkattu police limits on Friday night.

A student of APS College in Basavanagudi, Aditya was to appear for his final year BBM exams in less than a month and had reportedly been told by his parents to temporarily put a brakes on his singing to concentrate on his education.

His friends, who have mourned his passing on social networking sites, say he was depressed because he was about to lose a golden opportunity to make it big on the national scene. It appears he was recently asked by a national television channel to participate in its musical reality show, but his parents felt his education was more important with his final exams coming up. The police which is still investigating the suicide, however, revealed that it had been told by family members that they had had a lengthy argument with Aditya the previous day about his appearance on television.

“When he didn't come out of his room the next morning, they went to look for him and were shocked to see him hanging there”, the police added. His parents are in a state of disbelief as Aditya, born on August 15, Independence Day, was a pampered child. His father Ramaswamy, a retired government official, had even bought him a car on his last birthday. Having lavished her love on him, his mother Gayatri, cannot begin to understand what could have prompted her son to take such a drastic step. Aditya’s body was handed over to the family after the autopsy and a case of unnatural death has been registered by the police

    It's sad that for 'inspiration'
he took the wrong route. almost every singer or musician in the film industry has come up the very
very hard way. Take any example
starting from 'Saigal to Kishaore Kumar and from Sonu Nigam to Javed- Couldn't these have been
his idols ? Or from our very own Kannada film music industry 'Hamsalekha' would have been the ideal person to talk to or follow'! Imagine being gifted a car by his parents and this! Maa Saraswati sab ko Gyaan de-yehi binati'.

I have no sympathy towards this boy but my heart cries for his parents. The parents were only concerned about their son's future. Those who comment on the parents, Please think before you comment. Without his parents support he could not have participated in the talent show at all. Up to a certain extent these activities are fine. But finally it is education that is important in one's life - for their future. Only a handful of reality show participants were successful later in their respective field, but majority are struggling. Ask all the reality show organizer to give an on the winners – what they are doing now?? Most of them are singing for some marriage parties for their livelihood. I pray for all the parents who have suffered, due to the idiotic actions of their children without understanding them

Any parent who make thier children dependent on them is the worst parent of all time. They want their children go to school, get a degree and get a job (just over broke) or (jump off the bridge) This guy had a passion for singing and support him and passion drives his action rest will be history. All parents out there with old school of thought go and read some books, educate yourself save your children for disaster.

Yes...Parents should love their children but they cannot force them just bcoz they pay for everything.. this is selfish and conditional love.. Love should be unconditional and selfless,, Im a parent myself and i let my son do what he wished & what he wanted to be..praise God, he is doing very welll now..Just bcoz we gave them birth we cant make them live like how we want.. we should give them wings to fly.. we should let them Go so they grow and conquor the world this is love..Most important.. show them love and give them time, talk to them from a baby,, be their best friends.. Never give material things like cars to compansate for love and spoil them.. show them hardship.. our children will be responsible and loving adults..

Dr. Kusuma Kumari, it is well said and yr preaching to others easy . Aditya was a pampered child, still parents had all the concern for their son's well being and he was staying with them. Your argument that children should not be forced to do what the parents want to do. Well, the parents only asked him to concentrate on his studies and complete his exam which was due shortly and which was not wrong. The present generation does not want to listen to Good Advice of parents but they want all the materialistic and financial support of parents.

If the children want to have their own way, they should do it of their own and should not depend on parents for everything including financial help and in that case what you said can be accepted. After all, no sensible parents want their children to suffer in life. Dr Kusuma, if you are a parent, you place yourself in Aditya's parents place, and comment. If you are not a parent, you will understand this when you become a parent. Good luck to you.

Just wondering how the younger generation takes the decision. He could have convinced his parents through his friends/relatives if not by himself.

He achieved nothing with his harsh decision and left many people in sorrow. May his soul rest in peace and may god give strength to his parents and fans to overcome the sorrow.

Now a days many parents think the kids should become English speaking Software Engineer/doctor. They don't want their kids to become singer/artist/literature/poet/farmer if they are interested also. The society is moving in a wrong direction.

His fans say he was depressed because he was about to lose a golden opportunity to make it big on the national scene but now he got great popularity in full scale around the world.

Over ambition is bad. Our youth are heading towards the goal "0"(zero) with out proper direction. Parents must teach them reality of life from the childhood so that they can or will adopt to the situation as they grow.

In most cases parents think buying good gifts and buying whatever they asked for shows them how much they love them, but in reality it is important to keep personal relationship with their children. Therefore giving personal time to our children is extremely important for security and prosperity of our children. Parents limit their role as guardians rather than to be the best friends of their own children. This incident clearly shows the gap between the relationship.
