Mangalore: Police Raid Suspicious Massage Centres, 13 Taken into Custody

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Oct 18: In a swift operation, Kadri police on Monday October 17 night raided three massage centres in different parts of the city and arrested 13 persons.

Eleven women working for these centres, apart from two customers, were taken into custody. These centres are located at Kankanady, Kadri and Balmatta.

The police sources said that these raids were conducted in connection with complaints received from certain organizations about running of brothels in the name of massage centres.

They said that they are in the process of registering cases against the arrested persons and investigating their activities.

Most of these police raids happen in collaboration between police and massage parlors. They are aimed at catching the clients. They are then threatened with exposure and made to cough up as much money as possible and then let free. The women and owners are let off soon after.

I was shocked to see the no. of comments for this news. The issue of massage parlors has been blown out of proportions. This is unavoidable in a fast growing city like Mangalore with lots of NRI, black, and underworld money floating around. Massage parlors are dime a dozen in cities like Mumbai, advertisements are blatantly placed in all leading newspapers, in fact entire pages are dedicated to this INDUSTRY, one can imagine how much amount of turnover and employment and sub employment is generated by these parlors. The regulatory authorities are fully aware of the goings on and their palms are greased regularly, nothing can operate without their knowledge, then why this hoopla. As far as there is pent up demand, this industry will prosper and grow. In fact this news clip has given more publicity and demand for such services are bound to increase from here on as somebody from Manipal has openly commented that he is happy to know that there are full fledged massage parlors in Mangalore. No doubt namma Mangluru is catching up and fast becoming the southern coastal hub of drugs, extortion, and prostitution.......

I totally disagree with the whole scene. If LIVE BANDS where banned by the Supreme Court, things like this is termed as UNSOCIAL ACTVITIES. If these jobless women want work, let them take initiatives like makin Phenyl, soap liquid, etc... All they want is a & star life just getting pumped day in an out. Besides that, there is HARDCORE partiality. Top end peoples names are not being disclosed. Another thing, as per RTI, DISCLOSE FACES. At least we know whome to be careful off next time.

No need to go USA, Canada, Mangalore as I read in below comments! Here we have both legal and illegal massages and some massage centre’s run by police and politicians. Why you people are so surprised having massage centre in Mangalore. Come on, we Mangaloreans at least get rid of some rape cases legalizing these massage parlors with some decency.!

If Mangalore focus on tourists to visit.. Deffenately you need to relax on Rules and regulations.. After a long and hard travel naturally people look for relaxation both mind and body.

I think they should legalize the process with professionally.

I do agree with Shri Harsh Malhotra Mangalore-New Delhi, and I do not agree with Susan, Mangalore-Canada. It is a well known fact that teenage pregnancy is not an Indian Culture. It’s a “cultural gift” from others. We should learn the culture from other countries we should respect other countries culture too. Its we who have to choose whether it is good or not. Now a day our teenagers are very fond of following foreign culture, whether it is dress, speaking, music, movies, vehicles, food, life style, etc. I won’t say that it is wrong to follow other culture, but make it sure that whether it is a right choice or not. But, unfortunately, our young generation, the so called teenage people don’t have patience, they want everything fast, they like very fast life without any break, and this will lead to disasters.

We live in a society where always the girls/women either abused, exploited, ill treated and all sorts of torture and she bears it quietly.

Why there is no action against men, those who visit massage centre? Isn't it absurd?

Definitely some vested interest may not got their due share. If these massage parlour girls had a decent job, do any of these girls would have opted this job?

Instead of showing some pity and consideration, some out rightly condemn them. No body is forcing to go to massage centre and if these massage centre has the official license, then they can still continue their activity. As every coin has 2 sides, what about police catching the client ( indulging in illegal activities ) might be majority of them are their own associates. Never know.

Speaking abt teenage pregency, child marriage is Indian Culture not western. Here if a teenager get pregnant dont have to abort the child (in catholic majority countries countries abortion is illegal) society accepts the child, if anyone treats the child wrong way, they will sue them for million dollar.

The biological father has to provide 'child support' to his child. if he is not financially capable govt will send the aid. is such things available in India? Anyways, in India... girls usually quietly do abortion. if not ??? comit suicide coz usually the boy runs way. besides, do you know in India how many married couple abort the child when they come to know it is a girl????

A lot is said about these massage parlors. However has any one tried to take any trouble as to why these women get into this trade?. It is easy to find fault but has any one tried to get at the root cause of the problem. It is time that the authorities try and get at the root cause of the problem and here is a good cause for people to step in and try and council these poor women and make an attempt to rehabitate them and help them to lead respectable lives. I wish the authorities make a serious note of the situation and come to the rescue of these poor people rather than punish them.

Massaging of the body is a relaxing experience, also being used as a medical treatment with
proper oil and balms. But, massaging being done by a strange
lady for non-medical purpose may end up in an inferno like
striking a match in front of an
    open gasoline tank.

Here all the readers are educated, but many comments are of very poor taste.

I am not supporting the massage centres.

But, we should also be sympathetic to these women as they are from middle class and poor background and are doing this for their livelihood.

Our Govt. and society should take necessary measures so that these woman get economic and social stability and are not forced to massaging and prostitution.

In the present atmosphere, the police should concentrate more on serious issues like terrorism, naxalism, drug mafia, counterfiet currencies etc.

Our police have become fit for harrassing hapless and small people only.

During terrorist and naxal strikes the police become panic and kill their own comrades.

This is very dangerous as the police force is maintained by tax payers money and they are meant for protecting public.

The people of Dakshina Kannada who call themselves as more intellegent, should also become sensitive to social issues of this kind.

I have very stong believe that massage is very good to body.It is a theropy. If massage parlours are registered, there will be separate section for male to male & female to female massage system. But what is happening here is female to male massage.Naturally..North pole & South Pole attraction..finally massage centre will become talk of the town..and police raid..etc so on.Hope everyone understood it.

I do not think why this small issue is gaining this much publicity. why readers bring political parties and other associations in this issue. For sure someone took revenge on these centers for their personal gain and tip off the police. Moreover there will be more no of massage centers operating in and around Mangalore and who bothers them. does any of the readers who commented here visited these massage centers at least once..?
People are claiming about their culture, but my question is anyone from our cultured community will come forward to offer a Job opportunity for those poor ladies who lost their Jobs..?? In India in most of the metro cities prostitution is common and all know about this including the police then why can't Govt legalize prostitution..?? Now most of our population is educated and people knows what is right and wrong. Let the people decide themselves. These arrested ladies didn’t done any harm to the society like robbers, murderers. Let the police to arrest and punish to those culprits behind the murder and robbery cases instead of booking cases against this poor ladies. I believe most of them are came from poor families and they are feeding their family from the income of their Job which they lost now.
If required, why not the Police and Govt authorities control the licensing and operations of these so called massage centers with the strict regulation / inspections to stop the illegal activities.

Instead of cathching them, these police people are catching the poor girls of Northern India who have come here to feed their father, mother, brothers, sisters etc. who are not having any other income. Instead of catching these girls, Government should offer them any jobs to do and support them to get daily food etc. Out Government should act for the betterment of these downtrodden girls.

    Dear Jason,
Do you allow your family members to work in massage centre at night times. In the name of massage centre there are lot of other activities they do. I support Bajarangadal because they did not attack those centers but they complained to police. We have our own culture dont compare to USA culture.

Police department always work on the behest of communal organisations filled with illiterate goons backed by some wicked politicians and fundamental mentors. They are not at all worried about Poonam Pandey.

Actually to be honest Massage parlors are the best and Massage are also good for health but, some organisation like Bajarangadal cannot see girls working in a parlor as they have a dirty mind and always think negetively and Bajarangis cannot even afford to go to such parlors so such kind of complains are given to the Police
