Mangalore: Spectacular Mangaladevi Temple Procession Adorns City

Mangalore, Oct 7: It was sight to cherish as the grand procession carrying the decorated idol of Sharada Devi began its journey from from Mangaladevi Temple here on the evening of Thursday October 6.
Tableaux depicting the rich local culture and a beautifully lit chariot drawn by thousands of devotees were the highlights of the procession. The quintessential huli vesha was the star attraction.
On the day of Lalitha Panchami, Mahanavami Rathotsava and Vijayadashami, a large number of devotees thronged the temple and sought divine blessings.
Lalitha Panchami was on October 1, Mahanavami, Chandika Yaga, Ranga Pooja and Rathotsava were held on October 5. Vidyarambha ritual was held on Vijayadashami day on October 6 while Avabrutha Mangala Snana and Sathyanarayana Pooja will be held on October 7 and 8 respectively.
