Arrack ban: Congress Disowns Poojary’s Statement

Bangalore: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president M. Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday distanced himself from the controversial statement of the former Union Minister, B. Janardhan Poojary, that if the Congress were voted to power, it would lift the ban on the sale of arrack in the State.

Addressing a press conference here, Kharge said that the Congress was in favour of continuing the ban imposed on the sale of arrack. He said that Poojary had made the statement in his “personal capacity” and that it did not reflect the accepted stand of the party.

Kharge said that the party manifesto released a couple of days ago in Bangalore did not speak anything about lifting the ban on arrack.

This is the stand of the party and “nothing more or nothing less”.

He also refused to say anything further about the statement of Poojary.

Referring to the statement of the former Minister, Vaijnath Patil, on the stand of the Congress on the demand for an amendment to Article 371 of the Constitution providing special reservation in employment and education for people in backward regions, Kharge said that nobody can doubt the commitment of the Congress to the issue and pointed out that the Congress was the only party to have covered the issue in its election manifesto.

What’s happening in Karnataka Politics, it’s really shameful to the so called party leaders for giving two deferent statements, if you create the confusion before the election among the generous people of Karnataka who bears and/or forgives you whatever the malicious act you do when you get the power. I think, there is nothing left to expect from any party who comes to the power. As usual it’s all a drama drama drama from party leaders prior to the election.

I fully go with the comments of Mr. Eric Coelho. No matter whosoever wins the election, first the candidate will think about filling his jackets and only when it spills, think about sharing it. There again he will try to save something out of it for his stooges. No doubt we have to cast our vote every time when elections come in. Let us keep in mind the selfless candidates might do at least 1% for the community. I bet many of such honest candidates too will turn their back to us once power and money rule over them. It's we who go and bribe these politicians and govt. officials to get our work done. If we are strong enough we can make these officials dance to our tune. Are we prepared for it? We only require patience. Let God save us.

Mr. M. Mallikarjun Kharge - can you explain me - "brandi wisky and vodka are exempted from ban. Ban is only for liquor" How it sounds ? Before critisising others, give little exercise to your brain and realise the fact. If you have authority, put a ban on all types of alcohol and see that nobody drinks. if anybody drinks-shoot them. otherwise Accept Kr. Poojari's words. Be a gentleman.

What's happening guys, look like the candidates are competing among themselves rather than parties. One says something the other denies, do you think we will buy this cock and bull stories? I feel you should be in the street selling things rather than selling the party images by making personal statements. You guys can be good salemen not politicians. Next time please come out with a common agenda, what to speak and what not. How should we trust you anymore when you are not aligned among yourself, what will happen after the election ?

One Commits a Serious Injury and another is there to cure the Injury. I am quite sure that the Politicians of this Country whom I consider as Bulls with No Brains are dangerous to this Democratical Country. None of these Policitians who represent us are there to fulfill the Demands/Needs of the Voters. Mark my Words in these 60 years nothing has changed since 1947 except the Indian Population and with the present living standards going up the Poor People are going to Suffer more.
