Dear Friends

March 8th was International Women’s day. A memorable day for every woman all over the world to feel good and great not only about her own personal and professional achievements but also to rejoice over the success of women all over the world. On the other hand, it is also a day to think of the horrible atrocities that place against women and to vow to put an end in whatever way they can.  On this day  thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate their achievements. While there are many large-scale initiatives, a rich and diverse fabric of local activity connects women from all around the world ranging from political rallies, business conferences, government activities and networking events.

Over the years the world  has witnessed a significant change and attitudinal shift in both women's and society's thoughts about women's equality and emancipation. We are proud to have female astronauts and prime ministers,  which has proved that there is no arena where a woman cannot prove her mettle. International Women’s Day should therefore serve us a a reminder year after year  to celebrate the positives that we have achieved and forget the negatives!

Women Vision brings to you Eula D’Souza of Lia Travels Mangalore. A dynamic and dashing woman who has proved her mettle not only in her professional field but has a brilliant track record in whatever she does. Be it as a housewife, a mother, or even her duty to her parish she “flies high” with her positive thinking, Eula was born to (late) Alphonse Sequeira &  Benedicta Sequeira of Kateel. Born into an agriculturist family and one of nine siblings, in a remote town  this in no way hampered Eula from being an achiever.  Her inborn spirit to be an achiever – proved that she could  excel in whatever she took part in - be it sports, dramatics,  music etc.  She has  represented Karnataka state at the National level athletics, Hockey and Basketball in high school and  continued  to excel in sports even at the college level, while being a student of the St Agnes College in Mangalore by participating in the Athletics and basketball tournaments.

Apart from being a sportswoman, Eula was also the St Agnes College Cabinet Member.  After graduating in B Sc from  the Mangalore University her enthusiasm, grit and her determination to “fly high” made enter into the field of travel and tourism related courses .

She is the successful owner of Lia Travels situated at the Bijai Church Complex and this is the 10th year – over which she has helped numerous clients and has built a name of repute and confidence

Eula has prepared a CD on “Mangalore Tourism – Important destinations” in ther year 2002 which was an innovative idea in promoting Mangalore as a popular tourist destination.

Married to Donnet D'souza,( the popular and well known Physical Education Director at the St. Aloysius College) they are blessed with a loving son Eldon (currently studying in 2nd PUC Commerce). Eldon who has the charisma and qualities of both his parents is a great help to his Mum in the travel agency during  his vacations. Donnet  has been with St Aloysius for nearly 19 years and was recently selected to represent India  at the Special Olympics held in  October  2007 as an official.  He is also a member  and Executive  Member of the various Sports and Games Clubs in Mangalore & Dakshina Kannada.

Eula indeed  leads a very fulfilling life – Attending to her calls and customers at work, she leaves no stone unturned to give the very best of her service adding her personal touch!  At the end of

Dearest Eula the greatest DANGER for most of us is not that we aim too high and miss it, but we aim too low and reach it. YOU have been an exception to this. I am very happy to see on Daijiworld. Eula madam, Great going! Just want to let you know that women will not better men by doing more or better than them they'll be a truly equal sex only when they will be proud to be what they are and cease to compete with men. It's all just in the state of mind. Belated Happy Birthday! Regards to Donnet sir (a man who women can never beat in compassion) and love to Eldon(who I'll beat one-to-one in Basketball some day I hope).

Dear Eula I am really proud to read an article about your person and your achievements. It reminds me of your parents(whom I know very well) and your priest uncle who have contributed a lot to the growth and development of the kateel parish. Michaelangelo once said “if people knew how hard I had to work to gain my mastery it wouldn’t seem wonderful at all”. I am sure it is the example of your parents and your hard work which has elevated to this position. Congratulations and all the best for your future.

A wonderful example Elaine. It is often said "a woman can make a house or break a house". This is called power of a woman. Quite often perhaps its true. Eula no doubt in my mind is a force who looks after and looked after. Drawing the boundaries and when to stop at the boundary is a great characteristic of a great woman. Eula fits well here. God bless Eula, perhaps you are a great mother and a great wife and above all a great human being leaving aside the gender.
