Dear Friends, It is “Back to School” time in the Gulf region. We associate our School days with our “Young” days. Is School only when we are young?? I read about an 87-year lady (young or old?) from USA named Rose who has proved this myth wrong. She enrolled at school at her age and surely received curious looks from her fellow students. When she was asked what made her do so, she jokingly said that she joined school because she wanted to meet a rich husband and get married. She always dreamed of college education and took this challenge to her age and joined school to the surprise of many. She blended beautifully with the younger students and she shared her wide experience with them. She loved to dress up and reveled in the attention that was bestowed on her. She was living it up.
At the end of the semester she had to give a speech, she said “We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humor every day. You've got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die. We have so many people walking around who are dead and don't even know it! There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up. If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don't do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight. Anybody can grow older. That doesn't take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding opportunity in change. Have no regrets. It is surely never too late to be all you can possibly be.

Women Vision brings to you Nalini Somayaji of Dubai. a teacher by profession since the last 18 years, and a person of varied interests and talents. Be it a social or cultural gathering, she is always there as the motivating and guiding force. It is rightly said that “ We make a Living by what we get, but We make a Life by what we give.” And Nalini is a true example of this saying. She makes not only her life but also adds to the life of others by giving her time and talent. Nalini joined her husband in Dubai in 1987. and is a well-known personality in various cultural and socio religious associations like the Karnataka Sangha Dubai etc. Her tremendous love for children and passion made her chose the profession of teaching and is through interacting with children and being involved with them in their various activities, learning and playing she brings out the best in them. Currently employed with the Primary Classes in a school in Dubai, she is actively involved in organizing monthly activities etc. for the children. Karnataka Sangha is a premier Organisation in the Gulf which renders yeoman service to its community members and due to the efforts of dedicated members like Nalini who is currently the Secretary of the Ladies wing of the Dubai Karnataka Sangha, the Organisation is able to conduct various competition, contests etc. Recently the Ladies wing organized a Cookery competition which was a great success. Way back in 1989, when the Sangha began giving Kannada classes, Nalini rendered her services to teach. She has also held the post of Entertainment Secretary of the Sangha in the year 1996 -98, and organized interesting cultural programmess during Rajyotsava and Annual Day functions.
